Six-String Stories: The Crossroads Guitars

You can never have too many guitars…
This huge volume is a catalogue of the guitars Eric Clapton owned before selling them off at auction in support of his Crossroads treatment centre. It is a high quality hardback, with each guitar not only being meticulously photographed for the auctions themselves, but with additional photographs of them “in action”, comprehensive details as to their specification and when / where Eric used them and also comments by Eric himself. Some guitars, understandably, receive more attention than others (Blackie and Brownie getting star treatment). The estimated price and actual selling price of each guitar is also included, which is a nice touch.I was really impressed with this book. It really is great value for money and, having seen Eric Clapton perform many times since the early nineties, it was fascinating to identify the guitars he used and learn the history behind them. Highly recommended, not only for Eric fans, but anyone who believes you can never have too many guitars.

Excellent book
Whether you are a EC fan or just a guitar/gear enthusiast.. This is a superb book by any standards... Concise.. Hugely comprehensive with hundreds of superb photos of the many many guitars, amps and FX . Clapton has used over his extensive career... Its not a cheap book but considering the quality and depth of information, its actually good value and a book that will you keep coming back to, for many years to come.

Wonderful book!
A Christmas present from my wife (on my advice!). Fantastic range of photos of EC and his many guitars (and quite a few amps) that went into the Crossroads sale. Includes the history of most of the guitars, plus personal comments from Clapton. Very pleased with it!

Superb book, strictly for guitarists/collectors though!
As a guitarist, guitar collector and Clapton fan this is an amazingly well researched book following Clapton's huge auction at Christie's in 1999 to fund Crossroads.I'll admit it's a niche read but it has kept be entranced for days.Hugely recommended though.

Great photos and interesting notes.
Great photos and good nuggets of information. However, Most of the text is stolen from the guitar auction catalogues and no, real, new paragraphs from Eric himself. A little disappointed but fab coffee table book.

Fantastic book
I have a number of Clapton books but they all deal with his problematic past. This book deals with the guitars and equipment sold at auction to support his rehabilitation centre. He explains the specification of all the guitars and any modifications, the history of each instrument, where and when it was played and his thoughts about the guitar, it's a very interesting read.

all auctions of Clapton's guitars and amps in one book
Clapton gives a bit more insight into the guitars and amps he had over the years, where and when he bought them, how they were used with the various bands he was in as well as his solo years, what each sold for and at the end of the book all the gigs he has done from 1962 up until 2011

This is the book to buy!!
This book is worth every dime! If you are a Clapton fan, a fan of his gear, a musician, or just a fan of music, you'll find yourself reading just one more page, lol, everytime. The pictures are great as is the narrative. It's been a while since I've purchased a treasure like this, even the way the book is bound is steps ahead of the crowd.
