The code reader is easy to use and reads and clears codes quickly and easily.I purchased this unit as the check engine light on my vehicle illuminated three times in one year - when I drove the vehicle cold and either had to accelerate rapidly (merging onto a highway) or over a windy road. Each time I was out of town, but I brought the vehicle to my mechanic when I returned. Each time and was told that the code was one of the most difficult for the vehicle to clear on its own and was probably caused by the capless gas filler "door" failing to close fully. My mechanic suggested that I clear the code, drive the vehicle for at least 100 miles, and if the check engine light illuminate again that a repair may be necessary. Each time I drove the vehicle for a few thousand miles and the check engine light remained off - except for the three specific instances. As I find lights on the dashboard distracting, I carry this code reader in the vehicle so I will be able to check (and clear) the code if it happens again.

I truly love this Code Reader. I had one earlier, OBD1, first generation computer reader. That one seems ancient compared to this one. Since retiring I'm driving the wheels off my vehicles, so one of my vehicles at the age that I experienced my first "Check Engine" light. It runs fine, but being an x-automotive powertrain engineer, I understand the need to know and repair. I researched and shopped code readers, checked Amazon Prime and came across this one. The description covered all I was looking for and the price surprising. What a deal! I used it within a few minutes after receiving and quickly scanning the instructions. The readout provided the code, description and location. In my case the code number, Camshaft Position Solenoid Valve, Intake. Awesome! I found the parts on Amazon Prime, changed both intake & exhaust solenoid valves, plus ordered plugs since the solenoid valves located next to #1 plug. Also changed the air filter, serpentine belt and replaced the wiring heat protector sleeving as it breaks down over time.

For the price, this OBD scanner works as advertised. Captures all codes and saves you money instead of going to the dealer and being charged for reading the exact same codes. You can also erase simple codes (Like a loose gas cap) and prepare your car for any upcoming emissions test (I/M Readiness test).Better than expected for the price. OBD code definitions are readily available on the Internet for free, so you can find out exactly what's going on when your check engine light comes on. The entire procedure take only about 5 minutes

Good price and delivered on schedule. Great unit does exactly as advertised, I love it. Identified the problem and cleared my check engine light. The problem has not recurred so no repairs are needed. One use and it more than paid for itself and saved the wasted time an a shop. The instructions are a little lacking, but a quick you tube look took care of that and once done it's very easy to use. I am extremely pleased.

Great tool for verifying vehicle problems before heading to the mechanic and simply resetting nuisance light. Screen is well lit and very legible. User interface is simple with adequate instructions. The only improvement for me would be to add a few pages to the manual with the codes and meanings.

Does what it is intended to do. Clears only simple codes and the most common codes. If you looking to clear any code such as ABS or other engine sensor codes you may need to buy a much more expensive scanner which clears most types of codes. This is pretty basic and simple.

Simple works and is very in expensive. I work with a bunch of auto techs at my dealership and when I first asked around for a code reader, everyone said they used the dealership reader because they are too expensive. When I seen the price on this I wasn't sure it would work as advertised but it did! Not to mention comes with a warranty and can read LIVE DATA!
