Amber and Quentin all grown up.
Amber was one of the main characters in the Charley Davidson series, she is Cookies daughter, Cookie used to be Charlie’s best friend ( well still is) and her receptionist. When we first meet Amber in the books she’s a teenager showing signs of supernatural talents. Quentin, (when first we meet) is a teenage boy that has been possessed and sent to kill Charlie. Charlie deals with his possession but Quentin suffers in the process. His memory is gone, oh, I also forgot to mention Quentin is profoundly deaf. Not being able to return him to his family Charlie arranges a foster family for Quentin. He and Amber are inseparable from the time they meet, it’s love at first sight, even though they are so young. The two start their own investigation agency and make plans for a future in which they will always be together. But some plans don’t work out, Amber is out of college working as a P.I. With her own office, it’s a one woman show and she takes on living and deceased clients. Her day starts out as usual with a ghost waiting to talk to her, Amber has no idea taking the ghosts case will lead her back to Quentin who disappeared from her life over five years ago with no word why or where he was going. Always great to return to the world of Charley Davidson thought this story is strictly Ambers and Quentin’s.

Bring me all the feels!!!!
By this point, I will read ANYTHING that's even remotely related to Charley Davidson. Even if it's a Reyes Farrow recipe book. But getting to read about our little Amber all grown up and our very own heartthrob Quentin? Oh dear Reyes' brother, I can't handle the cuteness.....or wait! What cuteness? Hehe that's all gone and we get Amber in her sassy older incarnation and bit of a Charley mini-me and a bad@$$ Quentin that hunts demons now! Cue the swooning!!!!Long time fans of the Charley Davidson series will absolutely adore this little glimpse into that world. And unlike The Graveyard Shift, this one can be read as a standalone but I will ALWAYS shout it from the rooftops if necessary, read the Charley Davidson series!!!!!Now I need info on Beep's book and whether we'll get a series out of Amber and Quentin, or at the very least a full length novella because there's so much story to be explored there!!!

An interesting read
took me a few chapters to get into it, but I think it was because I was expecting to read about Charlie’s daughter and not cookies daughter but once I’d gotten over it, it was a good read in the end, just waiting for the next one now

Death and life!
Amber Kowalski is a PI for the departed and her latest case brings her lost love, Quentin Rutherford back into her life. Quentin is a demon Hunter and hides a secret. Can they escape their past so that they can build a future? Can they find the demon they're hunting and save the day? This was another brilliant read from Darynda that I read in one go! Her imagination and character creation is exciting and cements her as a one click author!

This is........
Amazing!I've 'watched' Amber and Quinn grow up through the Charley books.I saw them fall in love while learning all about the supernatural like aunt Charley, Reese and other beings. This book is fabulous. It finally shows us what has happened from the children they were, to the adults they've become, and I loved it.Thank you Darynda for this wonderfully written book.

Another great novella
I wondered why Darynda had named this novella “The Gravedigger’s Son”, now I know. For lovers of the Charley Davidson Series. If you’ve yet to read the series, book 1 is “First Grave on the Right.” An absolute favourite.
