Great NVMe SSD enclosure kit.
I purchased this external USB NVMe SSD enclosure (and an NVMe 1 TB SSD) to put together an external USB NVMe SSD HD to assist in transfering big-ish chunks of data (backup/restore) reasonably quickly. For that application, it works very well although the performance bottle neck (rate limiting part of any data transfer) is the speed of the USB 3.1 port itself and not the SSD or the enclosure. Assembly was easy and intuitive. I encountered no problems when installing the NVMe SSD or assembling the enclosure. The fit and finish of the enclosure was excellent. In a "real world" performance test, I copied 25 GB of data to the Ext USB (3.1) NVMe SSD in 100 seconds for a write performance of 250MB/s or 15 GB/min. Best "benchmark" write performance I could get was 420MB/s (read performance was ~450MB/s). Not bad across a USB 3.1 connection (IMO).I consider the price/performance/quality for this drive+enclosure to be excellent. I got 1TB of pretty fast USB NVMe SSD storage for ~$72 (for the SSD) and ~$40 (for the enclosure.)

Excellent USB 3.1 Gen 2 M.2 enclosure!
I installed a 1TB Corsair MP600 in this and got speeds of up to 1 GB/s, which is about the most you can expect from USB 3.1 Gen 2. Assembly was a little more complicated than I expected but if you follow the instructions it only takes a few minutes. If you attempt to install the SSD upside down (as another reviewer apparently did) it won't fit properly... so instead I recommend you correctly install it right-side up as the instructions state. It work much better this way, in the sense that it's physically possible! Some spare screws were included but only one thermal pad, so if you want to upgrade to a better/larger drive later you'll need to provide your own replacement thermal pad(s). I appreciate that the manufacturer includes both a USB-C-USB-C and a USB-C-USB-A cable! You can never have too many of those. It's a very clever design, though a bit complicated to assemble. The entire outer shell appears to be made from one solid block of aluminum so it becomes an excellent heat sink. I've had mine operating for just 15 minutes or so and the chassis is noticeably warm to the touch, which is an excellent sign that it's transferring heat effectively. If your M.2 stick is one that has memory chips on the both its upper and under sides, the ones on the under side don't contact the shell/heat sink at all. However, some reputable tech publications claim that NAND memory actually operates best at elevated temperatures and what really needs cooling is the memory controller chip, normally located on the upper side of M.2 stick, which would mean that what needs cooling is getting cooled, and what doesn't need cooling isn't.I'll probably buy one or two more of these! They're a bit expensive and I can see where improvements could be made, but in my opinion they're worth every cent when you need to transfer data quickly.

High quality Enclosure, very suitable for use in video editing.
As a professional video editor, the quality of the storage media used on a daily basis is very important to me.In the last two years I have purchased 6 VANTEC Enclosures (NST-205C3-SG and NST-370A31-BK).In light of my accumulated experience and compared to other brands, I can safely say that the VANTEC Enclosures I purchased are of the highest quality.

Vantec is my primary got to for HDD/SSD enclosures.
I have used many enclosures from other companies that haven’t lasted any length of time. Vantec is one of the very few enclosures I trust. My oldest enclosure is going on 10 years and I replaced the HDD a couple times.
