Cheap, works, use with caution
If you're considering buying this, I'm sure you have some staples your contemplating removing yourself instead of going back to the doctor and spending even more time and money, just like me. In my case, my dog was attacked by another dog and unfortunately suffered some wounds that needed to be stapled. Instead of spending even more time and money at the vet to get the staples removed, looked into the process, and it looked simple enough, and then I found this tool for $5. My hands and eyes work, so I was pretty confident this was something I could do for myself instead of going back to the vet, and for way cheaper. I had no problems removing the staples from my dog. I don't have any medical or vet experience, so I can't recommend that you do this yourself if you're even the least bit weary, but as long as your hands and eyes work, I'm sure this is something most people can do. Of course, there are other reasons you should maybe go back to the doctor/vet. Mainly so they can get eyes on the wound and make sure it's healing properly, but again, this should also be something most people can determine with common sense. You should be able to clearly tell if the wound is infected and not healing properly. So use at your own risk, but I'm pretty sure most people should have no problems removing staples themselves using this handy little tool.

Worked Perfectly for My Needs—But Be Careful
After falling on some ice and cutting my chin open, I ended up with three staples at the hospital. While the process of getting them in was straightforward, the thought of going back to the hospital or urgent care just to have them removed felt like a hassle. I dreaded spending the time—and especially the money—for what seemed like a simple procedure. After doing some research, watching a few videos, and carefully considering my situation, I found that with the right tool, staple removal could be relatively quick and easy. I followed all the care instructions given to me, waited a full week to ensure everything was healing properly, and decided to give this tool a try. This staple remover worked perfectly. It was simple to use, and the process was almost completely painless. I was able to remove all three staples in under a minute. Honestly, I’m sure I saved myself hundreds of dollars and a couple of hours I would have spent on a return visit. That said, I feel it’s important to emphasize that this approach isn’t for everyone. I’m NOT recommending that everyone take staple removal into their own hands. You should always prioritize your health and follow your doctor’s recommendations. For me, this worked because it was a minor injury, I was confident in my healing progress, and I had taken the time to properly research and prepare. If you’re considering a tool like this, make sure your situation is appropriate and you’re absolutely confident in what you’re doing. In my case, this tool was excellent—well-made, easy to use, and effective. But above all, know your limits and prioritize your safety.

Painless
Daughter had 2 staples in her scalp that needed to come out. We made an appointment at a minute clinic initially. With zero cleaning or prep, they tried pulling her staples out of a hard scab. They didn't even make it past the first one. It was stuck in the scab and so painful they stopped halfway through and told us to "put oil on it and come back". My (young) child was absolutely traumatized and terrified of going back at this point and begged for another option, so I looked into other options and found this one. After research, lots of videos, and going over it with her 100 more times, we were both confident in doing it at home. We slathered the scab in petroleum jelly and covered it for a day, gently cleaned it off in a shower (warm water also softened the removal area, highly recommended) and this really WAS as easy as clipping finger nails, as other reviews have stated. She didn't feel a thing and we were all SO RELIEVED afterwards! Fantastic item to have in your medicine cabinet and I would not hesitate to use one again some day if we ever needed to, god forbid

Did the job.
This is intended for a one time use. It served its purpose. Keep that in mind as they are NOT heavy duty.

Easier
Bought these to remove 3 staples out of my son's head and save $75 returning to the doctor to do it. I was concerned that the staples would be strong and require a fair amount of force, requiring a heavy squeeze and potentially moving/ pulling on the staples in the process. Not at all! If you can trim your fingernails you can definitely use this to remove medical staples. The tool works in the same fashion as fingernail clippers and the staples fold right up and out. It doesn't take any special precision, strength, or finesse. I'd honestly say it's easier than trimming fingernails. My son could barely tell when I removed them. No pain, no bleeding, no loud scary noises. Highly recommend if you're considering removing them yourself.

Perfect for vet staples!
My dog had staples put in after surgery and he is, unfortunately, horrible at the vet. We decided to buy these to at least try to remove them ourselves without taking him in (he gets anxious and sometimes needs to get knocked out for simple things). Anyway, this works incredibly. The tools slips in, you close it, and just pull up. It crimps the staple perfectly that it pops out. My fussy dog didn't make a single complaint! Very happy we chose to try...obviously check with your vet first ;)
