Informative, easy to read and delightful for both seasoned and novice fishermen
I am a total beginner, never fished before, and found this book very useful as an introduction to sea fishing. I now understand when to go, where to go and what I might catch. Nick Fisher describes about tides in a way that a beginner could understand, or an experienced fisherman revises. Not too complicated, just the necessary basics. This book is written as if he's speaking to you, like a guide. There are also recipes, so now I understand not only how to catch but what to do with my fish. I am particularly impressed in the way each type of fish has been described, for instance, to quote 'To look at, a gurnard has the face and the forehead of a Glaswegian pub-brawler, and the skin colour of a moroccan sunset.' - perfect description! you are then introduced to a bit of history, what they used to be favoured for, how to catch and cook one all done in a way that respects the fish.I would recommend this book to anyone interested in fishing, whether you want to recap on your knowledge or learn like I do.

Good read / info
A good read. A lot of info in book. Not just for beginners but also for us more experienced fishermen. A good mix of info from catching them to eating them. I would give this book 10/10.

Great book
This is a great book for folks who love to fish, but prefer to bring home dinner rather than trophies. Well written and very well illustrated. Some of the information is specific to the UK, but the book is still good for US fishermen.

Fish it, don't trawl it
I am not an angler and probably never will be. I have been fishing fewer than 5 times in my life and have caught a Rudd and a Black Finned Tuna. Quite why I bought this book I don't know but it seemed like a good idea at the time and anyway I like natural history - perhaps I am a latent angler?I think I read this the wrong way which was cover to cover. It got a bit boring and repetitive in places as well as a bit of formatting fever so I would recommend dipping into it instead.Having said all that my impression of Nick Fisher is 'please will you take me fishing'. He writes in a nice style and comes across as a really nice chap. I imagine he would be as happy teaching a numpty like me as fishing with a Robson Green type enthusiast / nutter / irritating person.Given his experience he could so easily have been over the top and recommended all sorts of nonsense to buy but it is such a down to earth modest account, and his recommendations are 100% sensible - try to buy decent kit but don't go over the top.His love of fish and fishing come through too, and I like the fact that he is conscious that fish have a right on this earth too and he respects that deeply.Reely (ho ho ho) enjoyable book, but take it in bait sized chunks.
