Technology keeps getting smaller and smaller but still with large capacity. Doesn't take much space on my desk and I've used this brand for a decade and been very happy with it.

This was just what y tech guy wanted, lots of storage. It arrived in time and well packaged. Very happy.

Most of the reviews seemed positive, so I bought this. Mistake.Problems started when I plugged it in. The instructions say there's an executable on the hard drive that I need to run to install the drivers and backup software. But nope, there was no executable on the drive, it was just totally empty. Worked fine, but totally empty. I have to assume that those of you who liked the product were able to find the executable, but it wasn't there on mine. Note: I did not buy this refurbed, or any other "pre-owned" excuses.So I went to their website, typed at the chatbot, and eventually a human came along, who had me install some sort of spyware on my computer, which trashed all of my running programs, and eventually after he poked around at everything on the computer for about 10 minutes he said there was "a problem with your printer driver, you need to have us fix it" so the external disk would work. Also that I would need to pay a "service charge" for the privilege. Umm... and explain to me, why does an external disk need a "printer driver"? I don't even have a printer.The exchange already sounded way too much like one of those "you need to let us fix your computer because you have a virus" scams where they install ransomware and keyloggers, but when he said I'd have to pay an additional service charge just so they could make their $120 product work, I said NO! and kicked him off the computer and returned the product. BTW: kudos to Amazon for making that totally easy.They used to be good, but after this I'm not buying anything else from Western Digital.

I got a replacement (because the first one didn’t work at all) and though I gave it a chance, after trusting it with my files, I have noticed some of my files have now “corrupted” after time so it has lost them… I do not recommend this product unless you would like to risk losing your files as well.
