Review: I never said before that I want to be like somebody else because I always acknowledge that I am ... - I never said before that I want to be like somebody else because I always acknowledge that I am the best version of myself and nobody else can replicate me, as me. But I have somewhat a personal vision of what I want to achieve in the entrepreneurial side of life, and Lori achieved and actually living that exact vision that I envisioned myself achieving in business in the not-so-distant future. I admire her business-savvy, her wit, and her intelligence. Her story, as told in this book, gives me motivation to go after my entrepreneurial dreams, and that I can achieve them if I work towards it, now, rather than later. No-doubt it was a huge leap-of-faith when she get started with her first product but her determination, persistence, and strong belief in herself made everything possible, and she achieved great things in business. This book is a gold-mine of information and inspirations. There is really no need to figure it out ourselves anymore, like its never done before, the path to her success has been spilled generously in this book, down to the numbers of how much it will cost to do this and that. All the unknowns and questions lingering in our minds that we simply cannot easily find answers to by browsing and searching online or spending hours in libraries unless someone, like Lori, have done and been doing in real life give you those answers basing on true-life experiences. The information shared in this book are based on years of actual experiences that she been through, so it would be hard or close to impossible to find a better book than this. If you have product ideas that you want to see realize for sale on supermarket and department store shelves, this book contains common questions that many of us may ask, that very few people actually have the true answers (basing on real life experiences). Hopefully in the not-so-distant future I will have the chance to present some of my product ideas to her as I have strong beliefs that these ideas are heroes, not zeros :-) Review: Subtle, Brilliant, Inspiring, and Practical - Of COURSE earrings need to be organized and the annoying gap between a car seat and the console should be filled. Come on – who doesn’t know that? And who doesn’t know that an idea becoming a successful product takes super-human effort, tenacity, and finesse – all in equal measure? That’s the beauty of this book: It’s all stuff that once you read it, you have GOT to be thinking, “well, of course. . .”. That’s the kind of thinking that leads to great inventions and successful businesses, but are you tapping into it? What Lori Greiner’s written is the kind of accessible information and encouragement every entrepreneur needs, along with the cold, hard facts surrounding the work and money it’s going to take to get any product off the ground. This is a step-by-step guide to moving from idea to prototype to pitch, but it’s also a thorough guide to building the kind of reputation and relationships that will lead to a growing, thriving business while avoiding dangerous pitfalls. I loved this book. It contained a tremendous amount of useful information from production facts to legal considerations to how important every person involved in the process truly is. This is a must-read for entrepreneurs and creatives whose goals include working hard and achieving success.

Subtle, Brilliant, Inspiring, and Practical
Of COURSE earrings need to be organized and the annoying gap between a car seat and the console should be filled. Come on – who doesn’t know that? Very Clear and Good Read, Even if Not Immediately Practical
The author, Lori Greiner, has invented and patented hundreds of products herself. But she is also an investor - and this is how I first knew of her - in many inventions and companies that were started by inventors. She has a ton of wisdom, and when you couple that with amicability and enthusiasm you get this text. It's true, as others have said, that it is not immediately practical for people who can not afford the tens of thousands of dollars that are absolutely necessary in order to build a prototype and test products. This is unfortunate, and i agree for the most part but I happen to believe that even if a book is not immediately relevant to you, there is some perspective you can get out of it. Perspective broadens your scope, and with a bigger scope comprehension becomes more feasible for future use.

A blueprint for success when taking a product to market
Lori has done a great job of putting a book together that is a complete education for the process of getting a product to market. The layout is easy to follow and there are checklists at the end of each chapter to follow along to make sure the steps are followed. The information is a mix of street smart skills and professional advice from someone who has not just been there once but who has successfully had success multiple times. There are also good lessons on entrepreneurship throughout the book on how to run a business: Questions and surveys, the right way whether figuring out costs involved (overhead), why not to scale up too quickly with office space, pricing of the product whether wholesale or direct, outsourcing design and pricing, getting outside sourcing, packaging local and multinational and so much more. The writing is easy to follow and has the touch of a woman with good personality, it doesn’t seem like the reader is being talked down to at all just being really solid knowledge and blueprint of what to do with a new product. The book can’t guarantee you have a success but it does give you a great chance to be successful.

I refunded it. Not for everyone. But, it can help those that are at the prototype stage.
I returned it. I found it for $2 somewhere else. The book is well written and she does encourage you to pursue your dreams. But the reality is, that you already need to have a lot of money. She touches on how to determine if it's a yes or no product. But in today's world (2017) it is much harder to invent something completely new. Unless of course you are a Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Bezos etc, etc, and some people are. The book suggest that you already have your product because the majority of the book takes you through the prototype, choosing and visiting the manufacturing process and distribution. Oh and by the way you need $100,000 or more. So the book isn't for everyone, it is not going to tell you what product to invent or if it's a sure thing. Lori is honest in the book about how, what, why and how much it could cost. She also seems to really want to help. Lori's energy and care comes across in the pages.

Sometimes you just need the push!
The book itself is well bound and easy to read. The anecdotal examples of what she did and regrets of things really humanized the experience. I knew who she was on Shark Tank but not what she had invented. If you take notes she really lays the step by step out for someone just on the verge of taking the steps from an idea to a marketable product. Also I love the repetition of the growth mindset.

Great book about the major steps in launching a consumer product.
She is a very compassionate woman and enjoys helping everyone she can. A powerful story everyone should read if trying to sell their product. Despite of honest and personal insight to her own journey and strengthsI think this book should have been two books. One book being her experiences and the other being the "how-to".
