Really captures the magic of this special rugby family
As some of the married rugby couples at the end of the book point out, you have to have a screw loose to play rugby. And when you come together with other ruggers, having the same screw loose really binds you together. I was very fortunate to be a part of the original Leonas squad, which came into being as the Lions men were entering their second decade together. The Village Lions RFC, over its 30-year history, seems to attract the most colorful and wonderful people, and Michael Malone's book really brings them all to life. If you weren't lucky enough to live through it, this is the next best thing. And if you did live through it, but got hit in the head too many times to remember it, this book will have you singing Lions anthems and laughing at memories you thought were lost to the sands of time.
