Lamp Shades are PINK!!!
When the lights are on, the glass shades glow different colors from light pink to deep rose. I returned the item. Amazon Customer Service was perfect. This is my second set. This is the lower wattage model - with much bigger glass shades. My first set is The higher wattage model which uses smaller (IMHO less intrusive) glass shades that have consistent color - neutral white.

Great option for track lighting
This is our 3rd Kovacs track lighting fixture in the house. We placed it in the dining room (which is really a dining/family room). The light is perfect: just right for dinner lighting with friends, and still bright enough to let us read the paper on a lazy Sunday evening after dinner or make lists on a dark winter morning. And the light is much, much more agreeable than your run of the mill ceiling fixture. This particular light (100 Watts/five lights) is right for a bedroom or dining room. Each bulb is 20 Watt. (For kitchen and study, we use the White Glass 6-Light Expandable Rail Track Lighting Kit  which is much brighter -- 6x35 Watt bulbs instead of 5x20 Watt bulbs).PROS:- Inexpensive for quality halogen track lighting (similar products run $100 or $200 more).- High quality. This isn't your $50 light fixture that you put in your kids' playroom: it looks high class and feels high class.- Very nice light quality: the fixture looks good, sure, but the light it projects is so much more agreeable than the ceiling fixture we used to have.- Flexible: light comes with 3 track segments. We ended up just using 2 segments since that was sufficient for our needs. But it was nice to have the choice if we'd wanted more.- Give it the shape you like: the track segments can be put up straight (like they arrive), but they can be bent by hand to give nice curves (we generally go with slightly asymmetrical "S" shapes for interest, but you could coil it, or go wavy. Your choice.- Easy to install (between my husband and me, we put it together without any difficulty).CONS:- You have to be minimally handy to put it up. This isn't like changing a lightbulb. But if you know how to change a light fixture, you can totally do this. Beyond the fixture itself, you have to be able to screw the posts for the track into the ceiling and bend the tracks (if you want something curved rather than straight).A FEW NOTES:- Think your design through before you start bending the tracks. The tracks aren't infinitely flexible. They are stiff and solid so they hold their shape, which is good, but it does mean you should be pretty sure you know what shape you want: you can't go with 3 waves and then decide, "forget it. I want a coil shape" and expect it to behave - you can increase a curve or decrease it easily, but you can't completely reshape it like silly putty.- There is a slight pink tinge which I think is coming from the halogen bulb - we don't get on the 300 Watt/6 light version which has 35 Watt bulbs. I've seen it before on lower wattage halogen bulbs - and makes the light feel a little "toned down" rather than very bright. That works for me for the dining room. But I mention it because I wasn't expecting it.- The etched glass shades are slightly bigger than the ones on the 300 Watt/6 light version. This makes them look a little more classy but still modern enough for the dining room. But it also means that they don't look identical to the 300 Watt/6 light version, if that's important to you.- The track lighting is attractive, but fairly understated, which I like. It will add a little modern flavor to your space, but doesn't draw attention to itself. In that sense, I think it is very flexible for many different design styles. Our home is what they call "transitional": not full-on traditional looking, but not Scandinavian modern either. The lighting fits in nicely with our Amish dining room furniture, adding a little bit of modern flavor to the space without being way out-there-ultra-modern. The style it also fits in with our more modern kitchen.Overall, I am extremely satisfied with these lights.

George Kovacs MonoRail Low-voltage lighting
Installed and working 2 weeks now. Was fairly easy install. MonoRail easily bent into curves using a 5-gal bucket. Looks beautiful in the kitchen above the island. Substituted 7-10 watt LED bulbs for the 20-watt halogens which were dim and didn't give enough task lighting although good ambient lighting. Also installed with dimmer specified to work with LED, fluorescent and incandescent bulbs. 2 problems. The drywall fastener was difficult to screw in cuz I didn't have the right size phillips or slot screwdriver. And I'm alittle worried about other reviews commenting about the limited durability of the transformer(and the cost to replace). Hopefully going to lower wattage LED's will be less stressful on the transformer. Makes the kitchen look like a designer kitchen. Happy so far.

Buyer beware!
I purchased this lighting system back in 2006, so let me give you a viewpoint of someone who has owned this fixture for 8 years. It's an attractive lighting system but not well made. The transformer is a cheaply made and had to be replaced every two years. By the time you get a few years out of it you will wind up paying much more. Further, I had to replace two of the lights that attach to the track because the connectors were also cheaply made and wore out easily.

Sophisticated look for value price
Excellent lighting very easy installation ( by 2 persons ) fantastic packaging, installed with dimmer. Only drawback is shades appear slightly pink in color at base of bulb. Got over that in a day! Great value. Look is much more sophisticated than home store brands.

Very nice track lights. Save in power bills and have perfect lighting for artwork and accents.
I like these and have several in my modern home. They are easy to install and quite versatile and modifiable. They can be dimmed with standard 110 volt dimmers.
