Perfect size for notes on the fly! I look for a reason to wright something in it. At my age, a short pencil is better than a long memory!

When I first opened the package, I was a little disappointed in the size. I was looking for this exact item, but small enough to put in the front breast pocket of a Wrangler button down western shirt. With further inspection I grew to appreciate the size as well as the quality of the leather. This well crafted leather 4.5" X 3.25" mini composite notebook holder, was purchased to protect my small notebook that I use on a minute by minute and hour by hour daily basis. At first the holder is just on the verge of being too large for either of the breast pockets, but within 10 days of heavy use, the leather is already starting to mold & form around the mini notebook, but not so bad as I can still change out notebooks as I fill them. This refillable leather notebook case now fits nice and smooth in either front breast pocket. I really appreciate the quality, durability, and the simplistic function of this cover. So far it has done great in keeping my composite notebook, dry and clean. I will add pics as this notebook transforms. The 1st & 2nd pics will be right out of the box new/ never used. The 3rd & 4th pics will be after 30 days heavy use. The 5th & 6th pics will be after 6-months of heavy use.Thank You

I am a planner fanatic - I have no less than 20 agenda / planner / journal covers. As I, and my kids, are getting older, I have find I have less to write down. My planners are shrinking in size. I do monthly instead of weekly / daily planners and I find that I can happily use the small sized notebooks to capture thoughts, ideas and to-dos. I have many of the mini marble notebooks and when I happen to come across this nice little cover I figured I would give it a try. Love it, I turn to it every day for writing down EVERYTHING (I do not even use my planner every day anymore). The cover itself it lovely - nice brown leather, nice stitching, fits my .99 cent store mini notebooks, looks attractive on my desk but can be thrown on my backpack or purse. The only thing is that the leather had a strong odor when i took it out of the package and I had to air it out on a table for about 2-3 weeks before I was able to use it. The odor is gone and all is well.

This is one of those items that you're just delighted to discover that someone actually makes it. The fact is, I searched for it expecting to come up empty-handed, and was excited to find out that someone actually made exactly what I was looking for. And, not only did it meet my oddly specific needs as a cover for the 4.5" X 3.25" mini-composition books I had recently discovered, it did so while looking good. The only thing I would change about it would be to make it ever-so-slightly narrower so that it would fit more easily into my dress shirt pocket. Nevertheless, it fits perfectly into my back pocket, and since it's made of nice, sturdy leather, that will do nicely. It performs it's job flawlessly, protecting the flimsy covers of the mini-composition books I love so much, and is rugged enough to withstand just about anything that would fall under the definition of regular use. I, personally, am an EDC (every day carry) gear enthusiast, and this falls perfectly into its role and is now an essential component of the items I literally carry on my person every single day. I could not have asked for a more well-made or ideally thought-out product for its purpose, and appreciate very much the simple fact that someone decided to make it. Kudos and more kudos to Rustic Ridge. Now, I just need to find someone who can stamp it with my monogram.

These things are so great, I bought two! The leather seems to be high quality, and a nice thickness, The tanning and finish is wonderful, isn't too shiny or flat, and looks like it'll age with character quite nicely. The price is excellent, and I actually would've gladly paid more after having seen the high quality. The stitching is well done, I haven't experienced any loose threads or unraveling at all. These can easily be tucked in a back jean pocket, purse, or man bag (my modus operandi). I've taken to simply clipping my space-pen on the inside, which works out nicely. Opening up gives decent support for writing, at the same time isn't too floppy (heh), yet still not too rigid to stay folded closed. I imagine this great little item will only get better with age, as it breaks-in to how you like to use it.Finally, I wondered about the writing pads to replace the one that comes with it, but they're readily available for cheap here on Amazon. Also, I wondered if these could accommodate a thicker and greater page-count pad, and it appears they easily would, since the edges are quite generous there should be room to spare. Finally, do yourself a favor, and follow suit like with the pad that came with this: make sure you buy replacement pads that are "bound", not just glued. It's a couple pennies more, but it'll save you great frustration down the road.
