My hose bib is like most, on the side of the garage/driveway vs where I need it, on the other side, towards the front yard. So I ran a leader hose in the gap of the concrete over to the retractable hose reel. Since the hose reel is pretty big, and with 50’ of water hose that’s filled with water, I decided to mount it to a treated fence post set in concrete. It’s very solid. When you pull the hose out, remember that the mechanism inside is plastic and will over time wear out. So don’t jerk it, rather gently pull on the garden hose. It’s designed to hold and lock on the first pull. Then the second pull it’ll release and retract. Again, you need to stand near it and guide the hose back in so that it won’t put too much stress on the mechanism. I turn the water off and bleed the line before I retract it as well. My first one lasted 16 months before the plastic retractable mechanism broke, but I use this multiple times a day, everyday. So I bought a new one last week. If used every now and then, it’ll probably last for years. Great product. Makes my life much easier!

The hose and recoil function works wonderfully. Installation was very easy. The only complaint I would have is the connection from the spigot to the water inlet on the unit. This means you cannot leave constant pressure on the hose unit. It uses a quick release and plastic screw on sleeve that slips off if you leave the pressure on too long. For instance. I finished using it in the morning. Forgot to turn off the water pressure and the sleeve slipped out and it dumped water in my side yard for hours while I was away.

This is well made hose reel but I can't here a click as to allow me to know when I can release the tension on the hose and it will stay extended as I'm pulling the hose out. This might be a little to much for a older frail person to pull out. I would suggest getting a 1/2" size hose instead of this 5/8" hose.

Overall the reel is great so far, the hose however gave us problems quickly. The end is a push-to-connect fitting that must not have been crimped properly; ater a few uses, the end came out. I pushed it back in and after a few more uses it would come out if the hose had any pressure at all. I have now added a hose clamp (as shown in the picture) to hopefully keep it together. The hose is built into the unit so it is not easily replaced. I would expect better design and craftsmanship for the price.

Once I got it installed it works great. The installation instructions could be better, but I was able to figure the install out by studying the diagram.

Came quickly, fairly comparable to Frontgate product but much cheaper. We'll see how it holds up

Almost good. The plastic fitting where the hose goes into the real has separated two times. I wish it was better quality. The hose is half-inch five eights

I have two of these in our front yard and they are wonderful. These units install on the house wall and take up very little space, and they are up off the ground. For years I've had to struggle with hose reels and other gadgets that were hard to use and were dust, dirt, and leaf, magnets. These units stay clean and easy to use. An added benefit is they are the same color as our house!

The media could not be loaded.  So disappointed with this item... used maybe 6, 7 times and it has been spraying out the side from the beginning and is getting worse. Notes Slow retractable hose - the hose whips back and is impossible to control it. Given the money spent on this and it’s not even a month old - it will be going back...

The 1/2 inch hose has a lot of kinks in it. I am worried it may not last will easily break.

Cheap compression fitting inside of reel slowly let's the hose detach. When it starts leak water the water sits in the spring compartment causing it to rust then shortly after to break.
