-Whether 'Forbidden Planet' or 'Visitors from Space' - here the fan of 1950s Sci-Fi movies gets his money's worth! This release in Bear Family's 'Destination' series deals with the unexplainable, the other dimension, and last but not least with interplanetary horror - but it also really rocks out. -37 tracks from 1951-1965 answer the most urgent questions: does the forbidden planet exist, and are there beings from outer space? -Of course, we hear various interpretations by famous artists, including Louis Prima, Billy Lee Riley or Judy Garland! -In addition, plenty of unknown rarities that would have deserved chart success, many of them for the first time on CD! -Furthermore: two exceptional guitarists in a class of their own: Billy Mure and George Barnes! Both with outstanding Outer Space instrumentals! -Artists from different nations, among others Freddy Sunder from Belgium and Winifred Atwell and Don Lang from Great Britain. -This extraterrestrial music cocktail is rounded off with original movie trailers and some monumental orchestral interludes à la David Rose and Jimmie Haskell. -The 16-page color booklet contains info on each track by producer Marc Mittelacher and many photos and illustrations, some of them rare. The forbidden planet - what is the story behind it? And what are the 'Purple People Eater', the Blood Beasts and the Robot Men? Beings from another world? Visitors from outer space? All these questions can only be answered by this CD. What's more, it rocks and swings, not only on Earth, but also on Mars, Jupiter, the Moon and, of course, the forbidden planet.

Fantastic science fiction fun!
If you love science fiction, B-movies, or have a love for the Atomic Age like I do, then there is nothing to not like about this collection. What a blast! A seemingly endless parade of space ships, aliens, and out of this world phenomena. Catchy, kitschy, kooky sci-fi fun!I highly recommend other Bear Family music collections: especially The Shadow Knows albums of dark campy old school horror fun, the sexy cheesy slightly sleazy Destination Lust albums, and their poppy peppy happy sunny Summer collections. I love all of these albums. And they have been remastered to perfection.

Alien cd 💿
This is a great album with songs 🎵 which are mostly alien songs like Bill Buchanan and his version of Phil Harris The Thing. Others inclde OOey Goey Green Cheese and Beep Beep which is not the one that The Playmates did but still pretty good. You should get this

it’s out of this world!
Really great compilation of obscure MCM songs with an outer space theme. Listening to this CD conjures back a time just before we went to the moon, when space travel was imminent, but still a fantasy of the future to be imagined. Far out!

poor mastering on the cd tracks
Normally I am used to professional production by Bear Family, but this cd had errors in some tracks and also the quality of the tracks that were playable, were really bad. It is as if Bear Family ripped these tracks from low quality lossy compressed tracks and then burned them on a cd? Bear Family, what is going on with the studio engineering of your cd productionsI returned the cd and got a full refund thanks to Amazon.

Real space “oddities” fill this 79-minute disc with Ella, the Jive Fine and Judy Garland!
Germany’s Bear Family Records continues to amaze me with the “themes” they’ve developed for their single CD releases. A few years ago, they started a series of “seasonal” and “holiday”- related compilations, always packing 25 or more records into a 70-minute (or more) disc, along with great liner notes and fun graphics. This is not “seasonal, but one of their other themed items (there are at least two with songs about love and lust. This time it’s outer space and aliensWhile the bulk(31) of the 37 tracks are from 45s released between 1953 and 1962 – when space travel was still a fantasy, though the Russians and the US had both sent up manned rockets – there are six tracks with audio from trailers for budget films like “ Robot Monster” or “Plan 9 from Outer Space” (generally considered the WORST film ever). Some are instrumentals with “space related” titles (Billy Mure’s Guitars in Space” and “Out of this World” from the ’62 TV show. ). The selections are not ones you’d expect. No Buchanan and Goodman here (the “Flying Saucer” break-in record, Buchannan (whose first name is Billy) made a solo disc “The Thing” which I didn’t remember. The variety of performers is diverse. The compilers (Nico Feurbach and Marc Mittelacher) could have chose Ella Fitzgerald’s “How High The Moon”, but instead give us Ella with “Two Little Men in a Flying Saucer”. If you’ve heard TV show host Merv Griffin, I’ll bet you’ve never heard him sing “The Screamin’ Meemies from Planet X” (1961) . And, even though I have a large collection of Judy Garland recordings, the closing track here – Garland singing “Purple People Eater” is not among them.Yep, lots of performers you’ve never heard of but – all in all – another wacky compilation curated by Feurbach and Mittelacher to enjoy.I listened with good headphones and the transfers sound great (remember many are from used 45s)Project producer Marc Mittelacher and Project Coordinator Nico Feuerbach (he did the informative liner notes in the 20-page colorful booklet inserted in the jewel box) have created an attractive and fun package!Steve Ramm“Anything Phonographic”

A diverse range of artists are featured on this 50s-60s spaced-out collection. Rock and roll combos, Orchestras and Jazz divas take you on an interplanetary musical trip like no other! Original Sci-Fi movie trailer sound-bites add to the overall theme. Superb retro graphics and a detailed colour booklet makes this compilation stand out.
