Great ventilator for antique PU
My husband purchased a 1950 Chevy Pickup for his retirement a few years ago. Beautiful black with black leather seat covers. Those unfamiliar with old vehicles need to be reminded that there is no airconditioning except for the windows and a few vents. Needless to say that the interior gets very very warm in the summer. I remembered that my grandparents had removable meshy seat cushions that they used when I was a little girl. Although their buicks had the earliest form of airconditioning, it still got quite warm inside. I searched the internet and of course Amazon had just what I was looking for. Are they gorgeous and stylish? No. But they certainly do the job and allow air to circulate under and behind you. It has been used all summer with little sign of wear. Do I expect it to last years? No, but for the price we will get good use of it and then purchase another. It's been a life saver.

Highly effective with a few minor drawbacks
I bought this product because the leatherette seats in my car had me soaked through my clothes within seconds of getting in after the seats sat in the sun for too long. The bottom seems to fit my seat pretty well and extends to within an inch or so of the end of the seat, but the top only comes to the bottom of my shoulder blades and I'm a short girl. The product is a simple design of metal springs (or coils of some sort) between the bottom layer and top woven layer which is about as comfortable as it sounds (not horrible, but definitely requires a little getting used to and wearing in). Also, this will have you sitting higher in your seat, which luckily, I am able to adjust my bottom seat height to accommodate. On the upside, it actually works and keeps my back and legs dry - even on a 4 hour drive I made in 88+ degree weather last week. For me, it is helpful for everyday use since I'll start sweating withing minutes of skin to leather contact and I imagine could even provide relief against cold seats. Overall, I am very impressed with the results and bought an extra for my passengers.

More disposable garbage...
I've had this for just over one year -- i use it in a vehicle that may get used once or twice each week (and i stopped using the cushion alltogether in the winter). The seams have failed in three places exposing the wire construction coils. I have repaired them with gaffer tape which is likely more resilient the materials used in the cushion itself. It gives fine ventilation in the summer, but it doesn't stay in place very well and interferes with the seatbelt buckle access. More gaffer tape would minimize shifting, but if it's just going to fall to pieces after only several dozen uses, what's the point in continually fixing the repairs? Like everything else, our disposable society would rather buy something cheap and expendable -- if there were a higher quality option, i would easily spend $50 if the thing was built to last.BTW; I use the cushion in pick-up truck that is rather high off the ground (with no side steps) and it requires me to "slide" in and out of the vehicle -- i'm sure this is something that has exploited the inherent weaknesses of the materials.

In the awful humid heat of high summer days, I never want to be without at least one of these.
This thing keeps my back and bottom up off the furnature at home so that air can circulate between me and, for instance the easy chair I use for looking at movies. It allows me to turn down the thermostat on the a/c, lessening my carbon foot-print and trimming the electric bill. I'm thinking about getting two more for guests. My Dad would drive us down to Georgia on all of his summer vacations in the '50s and '60s. All my cousins, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and their friends had these circulating cushions on the seats in their cars; in the days when car a/c was available in Cadillacs and Lincolns and not most other cars. These circulating air cushions are no longer sold in auto parts stores, where they used to be a common as bottles of windshield wash.

Great for long distance driving on leather seat
I'm probably the only person on the planet that does not like (unventilated/unheated) leather seats in cars (per my wife), but I sweat on them in the summer and freeze on them in the winter. I prefer fabric for comfort (if not for looks or fashion). I drive long distances for work and got "stuck" with leather seats in my company car. This product solved both problems amazingly well and for a bargain price. I find it very comfortable to sit on for long distances. I've had my first one for 9 months and 25,000 miles and the covering is now starting to come apart at the drivers-door edge. I cannot imagine buying a different technology of product when this has worked so well. Highly recommended!

OUCH !!! This thing HURTS !! It is NOT a "cushion"
Ouch !!! First of all, this is NOT a cushion. You're sitting on a grid of 3/4-inch steel coils, spaced in a checkerboard square grid about 2-1/4 inches apart, with NOTHING between the steel coils. That's all. No cushion. And it is covered by a very rough material. I mean, you could exfoliate your skin with the outer covering of this thing; it's harsher than a Loofah scrubber pad.Yeah, OK, you get SOME air circulation (not much, but more than I had, without this "Kool Kooshion"), but if you don't have plenty of fat on your buttocks, this thing is going to hurt after a while of sitting on it.I tried. I can't take it anymore.

No more sweaty back
So far it's working okay, but I've only had it a week. It's not very soft and cushy, but that's because it's made with springs. It's good to get the air circulating between me and my vinyl truck seat. As others have stated, the back side is a bit too short, it stops right in my middle to upper back. The elastic strap is on the small side as well, I had to be careful as I fitted it in my work truck (Ford F350) The elastic band is quite stretched and looks like it might tear in the near future. The biggest advantage of this cushion is I am now sitting up 1 - 2 inches taller in my seat, I like to be seated up tall for better visibility of road hazards. It's the end of March, I hope to get 1 summer use out of this cushion before it starts to fall apart. I will try to update this if it fails prematurely.
