Easiest A/C fix ever
As many other reviewers have mentioned, this is an easy fix and a common part that “wears out” over time, and we will talk about that further down in the review. As for the product, it is top notch. It works perfectly and I have zero complaints. Just as a note for those who may be a little confused about the branding. GE=genteq=capcom. They are all the same company, just different names. Take a pastor you get may be labeled capcom..and that’s ok. All of them are high-quality replacements from the same manufacturer. As for the replacement, it’s pretty simple. There are tons of YouTube videos out there showing how to do it, so I’ll touch on a few key points:1. Always always always make sure the power is off and the capacitor is discharged before you touch anything. If you do not know how to use a voltmeter to make sure there is no residual electricity, you should not be doing this. You can get a cheap meter from the local hardware store for less than 10 bucks. Once again, youtube university will show you how to use it.2. Someone mentioned in here that the new capacitor takes “5 minutes to charge”. That isn’t correct, but there is a five minute delay when you first power on the system. This is to keep you from accidentally blowing up the compressor. It is supposed to do this. It has nothing to do with the capacitor.3. Take pictures of the existing setup before taking wires off. Take multiple pictures and note what color is where. If you screwed up and can’t figure out what goes where, the terminals on the capacitor are labeled as follows. “C” is common (your power source—There may be two leads on this terminal). “HERM” Is the compressor. “FAN” is the fan that blows air through the coils on the outside unit.Good luck and be careful!
