A tour de force by a great new voice
Allie Moss might not yet be that well know in her own right, but as regular guitarist and backing vocalist for rising superstar Ingrid Michaelson, she's establishing herself a strong reputation by critics and the media both in the States and across the Atlantic. In Passerby, her debut EP, this soulful and wistful singer and musician, has those readily hummable tunes that BT (the lead telecoms company in the UK) definitely understands, having picked up `Corner', the first song on the EP for their BT Infinity TV ads.The title track to the EP is another clear favourite, telling the story of a chance encounter, and speculating on a possible friendship, amid the social convention of keeping oneself separate. It echoes the theme in the James Blunt track `You're Beautiful', again of a chance encounter and a shared moment of recognition.Passerby is a clear favourite. Try it, you'll be mesmerised. All that can be asked is, can we wait until Allie produces a full album of songs? 5 stars.

She's definitely much more than a back-up singer!
I caught Allie Moss live a short while ago, knowing her as part of Ingrid Michaelson's band. I hadn't heard any of her own music yet, but I was just enthralled when I finally did. I like mellow music, but there has to be enough there to keep me interested, or it just bores me. Some artists let their bands overpower them, or they try to go solo and sometimes fall flat. Here, the band blends perfectly with the singer, with a very pleasant end result. I've had this short album on repeat on my Shuffle recently. My favorite songs are "Corner," "Passerby," (it actually took me a bit to warm up to that one, and now I can't get enough of it) "Let It Go" and "Something to Hold On To." I also downloaded her new song "Melancholy Astronautic Man," which is a fun and bouncy song. The weakest songs, IMO, are "Days I Regret" and "Rally." They're not bad, but they're slower than the rest of the album, and I get a bit impatient, want to get on to the other songs, so I just skip 'em.I would love to see a full-length album from her. But meanwhile, I'll enjoy this gem, and catch her live when I can.

Plea from UK customer!!
I had never heard of this album or singer until recently as the song Corner is used in the current BT adverts, 'BT Infinity' in the UK. It is a really charming song & Allie's voice is beautiful. I have been hooked on it since these adverts have come out as it is a song that sticks with you a long time after you have heard it and makes you want to sing along. The only problem is the physical cd is not available here in the UK. I have looked online, in stores but nowhere seems to stock it. Although it is available to download from amazon uk, I like a compact disc to play too. Allie, how about releasing an album in UK? I'm sure a lot of people here would buy it!!

An instant favorite
Here is just another example of a great find I wasn't expecting. I went to a show to see Bess Rogers (who I discovered when she was playing with Jenny Owens Young) and there was Allie Moss and I just sat there gaping. Her gentle voice just drew me in and I was hooked. Thoughtful lyrics. Impressive vocal range. A softness not heard often with most singer songwriters these days. There is not a song on this EP I don't adore. I would say Corner is my favorite but that's probably just because it is the first song I heard her sing at her show. Amazing. Truly amazing talent.

Excellent debut for a great talent
Allie is best known for her work with Ingrid. This EP is a very strong collection of songs that showcase just how talented Allie is in her own right. Allie's singing is impeccable. The songs are very strong - bittersweet but ultimately positive.Allie will be famous one day. I'm placing a wager! My favorite song is Let It Go - as I think it has a beautiful floating nature that allows Allie's gorgeous tone to inject the lyrics directly into the soul.

Allie Moss, you will someday be famous.
I first discovered Allie whenever I was looking through Ingrid Michaelson's Myspace and fell upon Allie's music. (Allie plays guitar and sings with Ingrid) I clicked on the demo for "Passerby" and was just blown away by her sweet, soft voice, beautiful lyrics, and gorgeous melody. This was a year ago. I'm completely stoked about her FINALLY releasing an EP that is sure to please anyone that is into the folksy-pop genre.
