Works with sponge filter
Bought this bulk package to replace filter balls from package. They are bigger but do the trick with a sponge filter in 20 gallon tank filled with guppies,

Good filter media
I bought this for my freshwater aquarium and liked that I received a decent amount of media. I have more than I could fit in my internal filter. It did seem to work well even though I ended up switching to a more porous option. Would definitely recommend for more of a canister or hob filter than a internal filter unless your not using any sponges in said filter and just using this.

Filter medium
I used this in my 10gal freshwater fish tank. My tank started getting cloudy and then green. I have never had a green tank in all my years of having fish. No value for the money since I'm going to have to buy something else and the time it takes to clean a tank. Would not buy this product again.

Not sure if they worked. I replaced them with other media
