Faulty/ not working
The media could not be loaded. Very bad quality not working product.Totally useless and the seller is very slow with the refund. Cannot believe they can scam people like this, selling broken machines and then not returning the money. I am really disappointed from amazon.

This isn’t a dcd796 and it’s not a tool connect model either
I orderd this after reading some reviews. I bought it via my business account because many reviews seem to run into issues. So firstly, this is advertised as having tool connect. The official dewalt model dcd796 as this is labelled is not a tool connect compatible tool. Moving onto the other things I seen in the other reviews, it’s advertised as a 3 speed drill when the drill I received is a 2 speed. The all metal chuck is there and grips well as it should. The casing of this drill advertises that it’s a dewalt dcd796 but when I done a strip down of this tool, the serial numbers and date stamps don’t match up when you check them on the clutch, gearbox motor section. There’s also pictures showing the USA stamp on the drill. The he drill I got is not a dewalt USA stamp worth tool as it was never built in the US which is what dewalt require for a tool to have this stamp.Moving on to physical testing, this motor should be capable of drilling out to 55mm in wood, 13mm metal according to the specs on Amazon. The drill done this in the wood but struggled a little in metal. Moving on to using the hammer drill function and the drill on a 13mm drill bit failed and collapsed on me. After which the gears are now grinding and the chuck locked in place. It was for this reason I wanted to get this tool and test it out because there was several alarm bells going off reading this advert for this drill. So after it jammed I stripped it down to find firstly, as previously mentioned mismatching date and serial stamps on the clutch, hear & motor housing vs the handle of the tool advertising the 796 model which is claimed to have tool connect despite not being a tool connect model, dewalt have the 792 model for this same tool with tool connect. So I stripped down the motor to find that multiple clutch and gear cogs to have completely snapped. This should not be happening to a “new” tool. I want to add that I went to my dewalt contact in the US about registering this product for dewalt extended warranty and this seller is not a official reseller so you firstly don’t get the extended 3 year warranty dewalt offers. Secondly I went back to him after I discovered a diffrent clutch, gearbox and motor section from the spec and serials on the handle. He advised that a repair would not be authorised on this tool even in the initial 1 year warranty because it’s not the original part of this tool. So it looks like these tools are all dewalt parts but made up afterwards from parts from different models. For this reason I would not be buying any dewalt tools form this seller for a number of reasons but the long and short is that this is not an dewalt official dcd796 power tool despite what the advert is leading you to advise and it’s also not part of the dewalt tool connect range. Thankfully my bank covered the transaction after I presented this evidence to them but this was a fact finding purchase to being with in order to help others that are unsure of these flags to watch out for. £90 is a waste of money buying this tool when it’s other parts put together and advertised as a dcd796.
