A good read
This fascinating historical novel follows on from 'Bess' by the same author, and tells the story of Arbella Stuart, who had a claim to the throne of Elizabeth I.Arbella was a headstrong and romantic, aristocratic woman whose story tells of jealousy, hatred, repression and loyalty. She lived through major events such as the Gunpowder Plot when her cousin James Iinherited the throne of England in 1603. Determined to be with the man she loved, she took the biggest risk of herlife and gambled everything, with a result that no-one could have forseen.Very enjoyable, would recommend.

A great historical novel
Another well researched, great read by Georgina Lee. I knew nothing about Arbella before reading the book and, although I found her to be an irritating, spoilt brat, the history of the period was fascinating.

A great read
Another well researched read from "Bess" Author Georgina Lee, featuring this time Bess's granddaughter Arbella who was a potential claimant to the throne after Elizabeth I died. Highly recommended.

a good read. Arbella
This is well written novel based on fact, a good read. Arbella, the granddaughter of Bess of Hardwick, was born into wealth and privilege but with no freedom to choose her own path in life. When she does finally risk all to find the happiness she seeks the cost is far too great and her happiness is but a brief interlude in her life.
