No ending, but Edinburgh
I like the way how this author writes, plus I was very happy to find out that most of the scenes are happening in Edinburgh. I really appreciate the view. The characters are interesting, and the mystery is intriguing, but this is not the end! There is another book that will end this.Plus there are many more free books from this author, and I really hope at least those have an ending I can look forward to.

Story was okay but with a cliffhanger
The storyline and plot was okay, kept my interest on.But I hate it when authors end their books on a cliffhanger without warning the reader in advance. What a waste of time. I will never again buy a book.

Great Read!
Exciting cover to cover, interesting characters, intriguing action, suspense, and a super climax! I highly recommend you get this book ASAP, I’m fairly certain you’ll have a hard time putting it down just as I did.

Fine story & characters, but...
This book was a fine read, however when offered a "free" book, I think it should be a standalone story. I understand that many books from the Kindle store are built on a series. This one should not be called book 1 and book 2. It is actually part 1 & part 2. This would be better truth-in-advertising.With all that said I really enjoyed the book(s). There was good character development and a very fast paced storyline.

This is NOT a complete book
To me a complete book presents a plot, developes it, and then gives a conclusion. This "book" has a plot and developement, but no conclusion. To get the the conclusion you have to buy "book" 2 and "book" 3. It should be called volumn 1, 2, and 3.

Entertaining reading 📚
Due to eye issues Alexa reads to me, a very written thriller mystery novel. The characters are interesting and very will developed. The story line is complicated, fast moving, full of misdirection, and then no 👎conclusion. I would recommend this novel to readers who enjoys mysteries. I am looking forward to the second novel. Enjoy reading 🔰221 🏢💄🎓

Story drawn out too long.
The author used the entire book to set the stage of what would happen and who the killer might be. This teaser ends with the offer to buy the next book to find out the answers to the mystery. If this is the author’s way to sell more books, I’m not a fan. If the author is going to end a book with an intriguing clue for a continuing books, that is one thing. But to drop the reader, with no answers, is not the kind of book I want to read.

Seamless Storytelling
Publicity blurb for ‘Remember Me’ clearly states it is the first half of a two-part crime thriller, but it still came as a bit of a surprise when it came to a halt amidst a variety of cliff-hanger situations. By this stage I was already unhappy with the book’s implausible plot full of horror, and a mixed set of non-credible characters behaving bizarrely.Questions and options were raised for readers, but I was not tempted to continue reading, and I had no desire to get locked into ‘Facebook’, Twitter’ etc. I note author Ian C P Irvine has written a number of novels, but for me his ‘Remember Me’ is average and hence 3-star rating. As a marketing ploy the seamless linking of stories may make commercial sense and lead to extra sales – but I won’t be a customer.

Don't like smart-alecks
I am forced to give this 1 star. I think Amazon should allow a negative rating, raspberries perhaps? I give this 5 raspberries. Here's why:The book is full of cliches. The central plot is the old-hat mad serial-killer revenging himself for being mistreated in his early life. This killer is, of course, sadistic, fiendishly clever, has access to unlimited resources and is able to outfox PC Plod at every turn. Further cliche is provided with lots of jeopardy: time limits, lack of resources, people who are planning happy futures and are clearly Doomed! Here comes the smart-aleck bit: we have gruesome details of the torture of the next victim and he is about to be despatched when the author butts in : 'HA-HA!' Now you're hooked and want to find out what happens next, you have to buy the next book for 1.99.I've read several free books from new authors and happily paid to read their next book, but I'm not falling for this trick. Mainly because I really don't care whether the 2-dimensional characters live or die. Sorry, no sale. And 5 raspberries.

Only half a book
Well written with believable characters but this is only half the book. I know that the blurb said "book1" but so many books now are part of a series so one expects a whole book. I was really angry to discover that to reach the end of the book I would have to pay. Not funny.

Don't waste a moment of your life, this is not a book!
I dislike the fact that the author treats his readership as being plebs. If it were possible to give this a minus score I would do so. As far as I am concerned a book has a start, a middle and an end - this stops half way through, it is NOT a book. Far from being a 'free' book one, what it actually is is half a book - am sure he thought it was very clever to name the remainder of the book 'book two' to avoid any legal challenge. What I thought was really irritating is the way he tries to trick people into clicking on a link to continue reading the supposed book two after the first book abruptly ends on page 186 - yes, page 186 according to my kindle (not the advertised 207) which means that the rest of it is the author trying to tell us how wonderful he is .... Sorry, reality check, the only way you can sell your book is to try and get people to click on links to buy without mentioning the cost. Some people will buy it just because they have already wasted part of their life on the first half, others will put their energy into writing a honest review!

stopped short of the ending, readers very unhappy about that and there you lose them
Well this was a bit of a con wasn't it? It did say it was book 1 of a series, but you do expect on downloading book 1 for it to be a complete book, and not one which obviously leads you up the garden path in a bewildering way to the conclusion of what is a gruesome book involving the torture and deaths of 3 teachers of a former secondary school in Edinburgh. The book finished about a chapter short of the ending, just to the point where the 3rd teacher is killed and then the lead detective is just about to make the connection as to who the killer is. We the readers are a little short of that outcome and will be unless we buy the next book in the series to find out who did it. I shall not be buying the next book nor will I be buying any other book by this author, I may have liked the book up to this point and would have given it a much higher score, but you don't let your readers down by keeping them reading for heading up to nearly 200 pages and then let them down right at the end. This could be called conning your readers and for that you lose them.
