What's the best way to clean this? It seems slower than when I first got it. Anyone got any cleaning tips? Was thinking it needs to be descaled?

The question and previous answers are all dated before the mfr redesigned this filter to address concerns about it clogging over time. I bought the new design in Jan 2018 and have not experienced any clogging problems in 6 mos of daily use. After brewing, I immediately dump the grinds and quickly use a soft bristled veggie brush on it under running hot water. That's all I've done for 6 mos. I brew with a medium grind and medium roast beans. If you use a dark roast and/or fine grind, you may experience some oil buildup. In that case, occasional cleaning in the top shelf of your dishwasher should be sufficient.

What is the difference between the copper, gold, and stainless? Are they for different types of coffee makers? I have a chemex 6, 8 and 10 cup.

I bought the stainless filter and it works great. I doubt that there is a difference in the performance in whatever color you choose. I have a gold one for my electric coffee maker and it seems to function the same.

Does this filter only hold enough grinds to make 2 cups?

The filter can hold 2 cups by volume, of coffee & water. You should be able to make 4-6 cups of coffee.
