They are pre-assembled but could use an extra spacer for more sturdiness. They work well for birds, but not strong enough for chinchillas.

We bought this for our older cockatiel who was having issues with balance and he never once used them. Not even the big platform. I think ,maybe smaller birds or parrots might use them or even hamsters and gerbils and the like, but as for my bird it was a no go. Thats not saying that they're not worth the money. They are well made and sturdy. They did stay in place. Just as a suggestion, use them for gerbils or parakeets. I didn't give it low stars because they worked as advertised, our bird just didn't use them

Our cockatiel was so happy with this set, great quality and buy for the money! Other reviews state this wasn’t quality made, I totally disagree. Very happy with this purchase.

I thought this would be nice for my chinchilla, unfortunately it’s not sturdy at all. The wood flips right over when screwed on! It’s nice wood and the ledges are a good size but it’s just not sturdy AT ALL

birds are very happy with new stuff to walk on or bite, they work very well

These flat boards are perfect for my one footed cockatiel as before I got him he always had to perch on the round perch’s. Now he can -stand and sleep knowing he won’t fall off.

I have had these for 3 months now and many of the screws have naturally come loose from the wood. The problem is you cannot screw them back in as the holes are too big. This is a shame because the price is low but these do not seem to be quality pieces. I have bought 3 sets but I will be looking for other sellers that do not have that issue. I have small rats that do not chew so these should not have come loose like they did. They hang now and cannot be used. Useless purchase now.

So sadly I had to return this product because it didnt work with the cage I had, but setting it up was very easy. I made sure to see if the wood would splinter due to animal chewing, and I can determine it wouldnt! The packaging was a bit excessive though, was quite difficult to open up, but overall I was really excited to use this product for my rats, and i'm very sad that my cage walls were too weak to handle it, but hopefully someone else can have better use of it:)
