Easy set up and flawless operation
I own a few digital display La Crosse Technology clocks and have always found them to be reliable and easy to set up. When my old outdoor analog clock went bad after many years, I wanted to replace it with an atomic clock to make setting it with Daylight Savings Time easier. I'm retired and don't really have to be anyplace other than the golf course at a specific time, but the geek in me loves these clocks and that they're insanely accurate. I'm also neurotic enough that I get pleasure from seeing all of my clocks agree with each other, down to the second! Our old outdoor clock had been working for almost 15 years, but got infested with sugar ants and died a very sudden death. I looked at this as an opportunity to replace what was essentially a kitchen clock with a self-setting one, and after a lot of research chose this La Crosse. The truth is there aren't a lot of outdoor atomic clocks, and this one technically isn't either. I live in South Florida, however, so the temperature isn't a problem, and the clock lives under an overhang where rain doesn't get to it. Setup was easy. Simply install a battery, put the clock on the wall, and walk away. The next morning it had set itself and was showing Pacific time. At that point the instructions say to set the time zone, which I did, and the clock immediately set itself ahead 3 hours to Eastern Daylight Time. I suspect that you could change the time zone prior to inserting the battery, but the instructions are pretty adamant about letting the clock set itself on Pacific and then changing it. The display is very classic with a serifed font for numbers and all-black hands. One thing I really liked was the second hand is perfectly calibrated to the seconds on the clock face. (Remember, I'm neurotic.) I have the same feeling about watches. I hate it when the second hand falls between the seconds marks as it ticks around the dial. At 14 inches, this is an easy clock to read from a distance, even in direct sunlight. All-in-all, a terrific replacement for my old clock. Now, if only I can keep those !@#$% ants from setting up home inside!

Easy and Awesome!
VERY easy to set up. Pop in a AA battery, push the button on the back for your time zone in the US (Or you can set manually, but then why? Unless you are out of the US time zones.) Find a spot on the wall for it, hammer in a nail, leaving it stick out a little to hold the clock, put the clock up (the hardest part, as it's just a hole flush with the back, BUT! If you put it close to a door, you can see the hole and the nail) and WALLA! in a few minutes, the clock sets itself! What could be more easy? My cat even found it amusing to watch the clock hands move until the reached the exact time! ;) Clock is made of finely textured plastic on outside, but looks a lot nicer than in the picture. Great to match black, silver &/or designer computers, Black leather desk chairs, etc. in an office or computer room. Directions say to set it up late at night preferrably, and that if used in interior rooms of office buildings it may not be able to pick up the signal to set, and thus you'd do it manually. Clock is larger than it looks as well, which is easier on the eyes than other clocks. The price is certainly right as well. I bought an old black school-type clock for my kids when they were young, very similar to this one, and since my son took it with him when he moved out I wanted a replacement! (My mom bought the old one when my youngest was a baby, when my older child was learning to tell time. It's been through being dropped when moving, a few earthquakes and just keeps on ticking! I have the feeling this one will do the same as it's well made compared to many of the less expensive clocks out there - espcially the projection type, which I thought might be a great idea until I saw the reviews on how many different projection clocks simply don't work, are cheaply made, and a friend's daughter got one for her birthday, which didn't work either.) Great for kids learning to tell time too, so this could go just about anywhere in a modern decor room. AWESOME! I'm very happy with it so far!

Best clock!
Bought this clock 4 years ago after my old clock kept eating batteries like crazy. I have not had to touch this new one since the day I put batteries in and hung it up! Still going on the same batteries and not having to take it down to change for daylight savings time has been a game changer!

Best Gift I Ever Gave My Dad!
This clock is exactly what I was looking for, and it works perfectly! I bought it for my elderly dad's birthday because he always wants to know what time it is, but hates to wear a wristwatch and hates to wear his glasses, so he had some trouble keeping up with the hours in the day. ;-) All of his clocks are electric, and we have power outages fairly often in our area, so that added to his frustration (and mine, because I'm the one who has to reset them all, sometimes more than once in a single day.) So, that brings me to this big, easy to read, battery run, atomic clock! I looked at many different atomic clocks, and read the customer reviews for most of them, and finally decided on this one. It's beyond everything I hoped it would be! It's very nice looking, it set itself within about 12 hours (probably would have happened sooner but I accidentally set DST to OFF instead of ON. Once I realized this and made the correction, the clock reset itself within a few seconds, and we were off and running.) I placed the clock on a wall where he can easily see it from his dining table, as well as from his favorite recliner. The front of the clock faces slightly NE (mostly East), in the general direction of Ft. Collins. He has a gigantic spruce tree in his yard that blocks the view of the street, and an entire mountain range just a couple miles East of his house, but neither seem to be a problem as far as reception goes. We live in Salt Lake City, so there's only the rest of UT and part of CO between us and the clock in Ft. Collins. It seems to keep perfect time (I don't know about the second hand, that doesn't really matter to us) and his home care nurses have even commented on how much they like it. It's totally silent. Even if I put my ear up against it, I can't hear it ticking. (Yes, I have good hearing.) It's very nice looking, clean and sleek, and should go with just about any style of home furnishings. I highly recommend this clock, and if anything changes, I'll come back and update my review.

Initial hiccup, works great, worth it
I've used this clock for 10 months, it was my first atomic clock. When I first got it and put in the battery it took some time before receiving signal and set the time correctly - Be patient, you may need to take it outside to receive initial signal, but recommend waiting at least few hours first. Clock reset itself few times in few hours before working correctly. I was happy, however I remembered that within 1-2 week the clock will "spaz" and reset once a while, which I didn't mind except it was few min off - It was really annoying. First few times I think I manually reset, which would correct the time. After a week or two I didn't pay much attention, and it has been keeping accurate time without any intervention. Clock itself is made of plastic but feels sturdy & durable. Faces & numbers are large enough to see clearly, it hangs on the wall above TV in my livingroom. If I recall it does have extra battery compartment, uses 1AA (+1AA for extra if you wish). I've noticed that quartz based clocks have ticks and even some fancy/advanced clocks are not right on the each second spot/position as they tick away, which leads me be believe it's nature of clock design & function. Compared to cheap wall clock I got from walmart/target, it's silent and don't hear any ticking, you might hear ticking sound in quiet room at night - honestly I don't hear any clock ticking when it's silent. Overall I'm happy with my purchase and considering buying more for my rooms. Downside is that it may not work perfectly right away, and may need to reset few times and/or just need to wait a while before it "settles" in.

Good atomic clock for the money
Works well. It’s plastic yes but it looks elegant. The atomic clock function works well although you may want to have the clock in a room with a window so that it can receive the signal well. Because it keeps time using an atomic clock radio signal I expect it to be very accurate so long as it keeps being able to receive it. I’m not sure about durability since it’s almost 100% plastic, but as long as the mechanism stays in good working order it should last for many years.

Great clock. Good looking. Accurate.
Love this clock. It sits over our kitchen stove and, while bigger than I expected, it looks great. It also has the added benefit of being ATOMIC. No, it won't kill you! It receives a signal from the US Atomic clock in Colorado, I believe, making it correct to something like a pico-second. LOL

Great clock! Well, until it wasn't...
I've had one of these clocks for years, at least 15 years, never an issue with it, accurate all the time, automatically changes to/from daylight savings time, etc. Unfortunately during a renovation project it fell of the wall, the glass shattered and some of the plastic broke, so I ordered a new one to replace it. The new one seems even better now since it has a 2nd battery compartment. (My original did not.) The new one now hangs on the wall near the entry. My original one still works and keeps accurate time so I put it out on the lanai. I know the Florida heat/humidity will probably get to it eventually, but until then I now have two great clocks that I never have to set! Update: The replacement clock was ordered 3/17/23. Earlier this week (today is 1/13/24) it stopped working. I put new batteries in, but it would not start. Pressed the reset button, it ran until it got to noon and it stopped. It has not started up again. I've tried resetting it several times, always the same, stops at noon and does not start again, even after letting it sit for a few days as it says to do in the instructions. I ordered another one (it was on sale even!) and it arrived today, so far it is working fine and keeping accurate time. Not sure what the problem might be with the one ordered back in March, but it's way to late to return it now. Hopefully this new one keeps on ticking! Update 7/1/2025: The replacement clock stopped keeping accurate time several weeks ago. I have fiddled with it, reset it, tinkered with the settings - nothing seems to work. I contacted La Crosse Technologies, did everything they suggested but no luck. They offered to sell me a new one at a 45% discount. Clearly there are issues with this model but they want me to spend more money on another one?? Apparently they won't stand behind their defective product. I'm done with anything from La Crosse Technologies.
