BatesMen's Rush Mid Military and Tactical Boot

Great boot for light activity and hot/dry climates. These are VERY lightweight and breathable. Feels like an athletic shoe. Has EXCELLENT ankle support. Some of the best ankle support with comparable boots like 5.11. Absolutely ZERO break in period. They were extremely comfy right out of the box. The inside sole is soft and supportive, although typically I need to put an insert in after couple months with my boots. I've only had these for about a month so time will tell with durability. I've been wearing them 5 days a week, for 10-11 hrs a day office setting. Not sure about hiking or extreme conditions. My shoe size is 9.5 and I got these Bates in 10, and they give me enough comfort room for sole inserts or thicker socks. I usually go half size bigger with boots. The color is unique. Mix between desert tan and coyote brown. Picture shows boot with a 5.11 khaki Stryke pant. Picture also shows boots have wrinkles ontop of the front when walking. Not sure yet if this will be a problem later. Wrinkles go flat when standing. These do not get dirty like my 5.11 Taclight boots I own in desert tan color. My 5.11 boots get dirty REAL fast, but the mesh material in these Bates seem to resist dirt and discoloration. We shall see over time. I highly recommend so far.

These boots are super lightweight not a lot of cushion, but just enough to get through the day. I walk about 3 miles during my shift at work. Mesh material on top of toes allows air to flow. Sturdy comfortable feeling of like leather easy to clean off mud and dirt.

I had my foot measured to be an 11 medium. I bought 11 medium Rush shoes directly from Bates but they were too narrow and hurt my feet. I bought an 11 extra wide from Amazon because the Bates website was out of them. The shoe is still incredibly narrow and hurts my feet. The shank of my foot feels like it's in a vise after a few hours at work.I measured the insole and it was about 4-1/16 inches. An American medium is 4-1/8 and a wide is 4-5/16.The shank of the insole is about 3/8 of an inch smaller than my foot.Another problem is that the midsole of the shoe wraps up and around the bottom of your foot by about 1/4 inch. This is to cradle your foot, but since it's drasticallytoo narrow, it hurts.The arch support also sits too far back. It starts just in front of your heel and then flattens out, leaving about half you arch unsupported.I've never had shoes fit like this in my life. They're terrible. It's like Bates took the heel of a woman's 11 and attached the ball and toe of a men's. These people clearly have no concept of the shape of the human foot.Strangely, Bates is owned by Wolverine, and Wolverine boots fit me perfectly and are very comfortable. Wolverine needs to clean house at Bates and put people in charge that know how to size shoes.

Very comfortable straight out of the box. No break in required. Wore them on the floor of a Correctional Facility for 8 hours with no discomfort. Lightweight option from traditional tactical boots. Price was also reasonable.

This is a good summer shoe. Good support at ankle doesn’t feel flimsy. Good looking ,it’s a 4 and Half inch boot. Very easy and fast on and off. Buy one half size up in length and width. Inner sole is not the greatest,I changed mine. Also not friendly at all to water would seep right in. Over all true 4.5 star rating. Good shoe so far had for a week. Also very quit walking wise.

Very comfortable, nice proper fit. Bates used to make cheap boots, but these are quality made with finished edges, soles that are soft but not squishy, hard wearing boots. Laces stay tied, ankle is firm but not stiff.Updated review — Well the light weight that I liked has shown it’s down side. Shortly after I posted my review these holes appeared and are slowly widening. This is from day to day wear, nothing exotic or out in the field. Since I have one on each shoe it’s not just random damage. Too bad as I really liked these shoes. Knocked a few stars off as they’re becoming unwearable after less than 90 days.

I have been wearing this boots for about 6 years now and they are the best, lightweight, vented and cushioned

These boots are excellent for work, very comfortable and they don't weigh anything.
