High-end features for an absolute steal of a price.
I have been a PC gamer for years, and I have been searching for a new monitor for quite some time. I researched dozens of different brand names from low end budget to high end LG, Samsung, or BenQ gaming monitors, and this Sceptre 27" 1440p HDR gaming monitor checked all my boxes. I wanted as many high-end features that I could find, while paying as little as possible (dont we all). This monitor is with out a doubt one of the best budget monitors that you will find in the 1440p range. It even out ranks or beats some high end monitors that I have come across. It comes with 10bit color or 8bit with dithering which is comparable. 1.07 billion colors at 135% sRGB which means it has great wide color gamut. It has 1m GtG latency and its brightness peaks at 450nits with HDR400. For a 1440p IPS,144 frames per second, HDR capable, 10bit wide color gamut w/ HDR, sporting 1ms grey-to-grey latency at 135% sRGB, this monitor is an absolute beast. Try finding these specs on another 1440p HDR monitor and see how much you will have to pay. This is my first time using HDR and this monitor is brighter than most other 1440p HDR gaming monitors that peak out at around 400. So all these colors pop and the fact that its an IPS screen helps bring things to life. For below $200, you will not find a better gaming monitor (trust me, I looked for months). Also, Sceptre has a 'No dead pixel guarantee'. So thats a relief right from the start that no matter what you wont be stuck with a green or black spot(s) chillin on your brand new gaming monitor. Now as it is a 'budget' monitor there are some caveats, but for the price they are perfectly acceptable. First 10-bit is only available using 120hz, if you want to use 144hz its 8-bit w/ dithering which is not the same thing, but its very hard to tell the difference between the two. It is also possible that my Display Port cable is an older version and its not letting me access the higher setting because of it, but I dont think so. Also, 1ms GtG latency only comes on if you select the 'overdrive' option within the monitors settings. Otherwise its 5ms. Again, not a big deal because its easy to access. The last negative thing I have to mention is the stand. Its a big monitor with a beefy and very tall stand. You cannot adjust the height unless I am missing something. You can tilt the screen in all directions, up/down/left/right and rotate it into portrait view, which is nice, but I would like it a few inches lower. The bezels are nice and fairly small on the left and right sides.Again, overall you will be hard pressed to find a comparable 1440p IPS HDR gaming monitor for this price that are rockin these kind of specs 10-bit 135% sRGB is hard to find even on high end models. Ive had zero issues in the past 3 months of constant use and Im glad I waited and kept searching until I found this one. If you have read other comments about HDR not working or a 'washed-out' look, that is a problem with HDR settings within windows and not a monitor problem. I recommend that if you do have an issue (I had no issues at all), then search for an HDR settings guide and you will be good to go! I hope this guide has helped and besides, if you dont like it, you can return it and try your second choice! However, once you launch your first game, you will be glad you bought it.

Great picture. Big.
I have no complaints about this monitor. I had reservations initially because I was unfamiliar with the brand, but the monitor is still working like a charm. It seems well built and sturdy and is easy to use. I am not a hard-core gamer, so I cannot speak to whether the refresh rate is life-changing, but it satisfies my needs. One important note: I kept buying progressively larger monitors but it turns out a monitor can be too big. I have this monitor paired with a 27 inch and it is too much -- not the fault of the monitor AT ALL, just maybe consider your use-case and whether you really want something this size. I suspect if I had a single monitor set up, this would be perfect, actually. I have this as my main, and my 27" on a KVM to switch between being my secondary screen and a monitor for a second computer.

Had a small scare, but still a great monitor.
UPDATE 4: The issue seems to have resolved itself after a few hours. Still concerning, but all good.UPDATE 3: Less than a year and this monitor developed issues.First, periodically when going to sleep mode or waking up from, the monitor would flash solid colors, RGB, I'd have to turn off the monitor for the screen to go back to normal. The monitor was in sleep mode, nothing was touching the PC and it sometimes comes on for no reason, this time it came on with the bright stripe and what seems to be a comic like dot-matrix pattern. It's truly disappointing that it turned into a lemon in just 10 months. Will see if it's still covered under warranty. This monitor is absolutely FANTASTIC, but it's not perfect!Update 2: I switched to an AMD Radeon RX 6900XT. Here are the settings that I use for the monitor. In Radeon Settings under the Display tab and then Custom Color- Custom Color: Enabled- Color Temperature Control: Enabled- Color Temperature: 6500- Brightness: 48- Hue: 0- Contrast: 72- Saturation: 142 (You can set this to your preference)Settings on the Panel itselfPicture- Backlight: 40- Brightness: 20- Contrast: 51- Preset: User-DCR: Off- Sharpness: 50Color- Gamma: 2.0- Tint: 50- Saturation: 52-Blue Light Shift: OffSystem- Overdrive: On- Adaptive Sync: OnUPDATE: I think I have found the perfect settings. Again, there is such a thing as panel variance so your mileage may vary. Note, when you make these changes, and you decide to turn on adaptive sync/G-Sync it may mess with the Nvidia color settings, just move any of the sliders in the desktop color settings and apply to ring it back.Nvidia Control panel:In the Adjust Desktop Color settings:- Brightness 32- Contrast 30- Gamma 1.56 (can be lower if desired)Monitor SettingsIn the Picture settings:- Backlight 80- Brightness 20- Contrast 50- Preset User- DCR off- Aspect Ratio Full- Sharpness 50- MPRT Off- Multi Window OffPros- Amazing colors! Colors pop out very well, again, similar to OLED. I work on a 4k OLED screen on my laptop for work so I can definitely tell if it's closer to OLED or not.- Refresh rate is smooth as butter. Now this isn't a huge jump for me since I came from a 144hz monitor previously, but there are two additional features that make this refresh rate smoother.- G-Sync capable...but not officially rated for it. That being said, I tested with the Nvidia G-sync demo and it works!! You can enable it in the Nvidia control panel, and while the difference is small, it makes an overall smoother impact to gameplay.- Response time are snappy, this, with the above mentioned, makes FPS games like Destiny and Doom such a pleasure to play. It's like gliding on a polished floor coated in oil and butter lol. Make sure to turn on overdrive for this to work.- Size! The 32 inches makes a difference in immersion- Resolution. I came from 1080p ultrawide (2560x1080) and I didn't think making the jump to 1440 would be that huge but man, EVERYTHING looks crispy, clean and clear, especially games.- Price! At $270 (at the time of purchase and with no sales tax) this is a high end monitor at low end prices!Cons- The brightness.....oh the brightness!! This thing is too darn bright for it's own good. I'm trying to find a good balance on the configurations between the Nvidia control panel and the monitor settings, getting there but I haven't found it yet.- Blacks are too dark. I'm still playing with the settings but in games or movies, where there's dark areas, it's a bit too dark and it's hard to make out any detail, even when turning up the brightness.- Backlight LEDs, not bright enough to reflect of the wall. They might as well not be there so I just turned them off. When I find the perfect settings, I'll share them, but keep in mind panel variation, so your mileage may vary.
