Liftmaster 855lm Chamberlain OEM Homelink Compatibility Bridge

I have 2 cars with older Homelink systems built in that will not speak to my modern garage door heads. So I bought this product and voila now both cars open the garage doors. What's nice is that I can set up each garage door for any button. So both cars can open both doors individually.The training is no different than how you set up your garage door opener now: use the provided new remote to train the car, press the train button on the garage door head and press the button in the car you just trained. The head learns the code magically via this product and the garage door opens.

I could not get my garage door to sync with the home link in the car. (I am not new to home link and have used it successfully many times with numerous garage door openers.) This compatibility bridge solved the connectivity problem. It acts as a "go between" that receives the signal from the car's home link, and sends it to the receiver on the door opener. For lack of a better analogy, the home link in the car could not "talk" directly to the door opener without this device to "translate" the signal. It was easy to install (just plug it in), sync the units and you are done.

It’s annoying that I need to add this extra item to make the garage work, but it works. So I’ll just be happy.We had a 2022 Camry that had an accident. So we went with a 2023 Lexus and no matter what we tried. We could never get the garage door to open. Which was annoying as both cars are new, both cars are Toyota. After being annoying with the remotes for awhile I finally decided. $35. Just try it. And within 3 minutes. Homelink now works with our car. Which is more than fantastic. I’m not sure how rolling codes and such work, don’t care. We have a 5 year old garage opener and a 1 year old car. Should work. Doesn’t. But this was a simple fix.

The concept is simple- the old Homelink mirror that is neatly and conveniently integrated into our auto-dimming car mirrors, doesn't speak the latest "Security+ 2.0" language that our newer garage door openers and gate operators speak. So here comes Liftmaster with a neat solution. It speaks both old Homelink mirror and current Security+ 2.0 languages! It is happy to listen for your Homelink mirror button and then it simply transmits in Security+ 2.0 to the opener and everything is supposed to work great! And basically it does but there are two things you should know BEFORE you decide use this.1. Setup - People who are educated and think they are clever, like me, think they can deviate from the setup steps. Do not do this. The remote that comes in this kit looks EXACTLY like a regular remote- IT IS NOT. It is ONLY used to PROGRAM the Homelink Mirror to send commands to the 855LM. Once the mirror is programmed, that is the ONLY remote that will trigger the 855LM to pass an open or close command on to the opener. In other words, clever guys like me don't want to climb back into our car and press the Homelink button (partially due to Item 2 below) and instead, we just use that "remote" that comes in the kit. We start to program our opener, hit the remote button (not the mirror button) and, nothing happens. You MUST use the mirror button to join the 855LM to your opener. SUGGESTION: Liftmaster should make this MUCH more clear. This caused me a lot of frustration. I finally found a support thread, one single post, BURIED in Chamberlain's website that said that the remote that comes in this kit is programming the LM55 to the mirror ONLY. It will not trigger the LM55 to open or close anything, like a regular remote.2. Homlink mirror range SUCKS. It is VERY SHORT. Worse, they are slow so you need to hold the button an annoyingly long time. So much for the $700 we plunked down for the auto-dimming, learning remote mirror. I find myself needing to keep the original remotes in my car for when the weather outside doesn't let the anemic Homelink mirror signal get through. Even from 10 feet away. This causes anger and is unreliable. And folks like me over-react and re-setup everything only to find the same poor performance.ALL THAT CONSIDERED, it does work and it is not expensive.
