I love Mason, but only the Mason I know with ...
I have been so hesitant to read this book that I put it off for over a year. I love Mason, but only the Mason I know with Sam. Of course, I know he wasn't a saint before falling for her, but I didn't want any more details. However, I was in need of a Tijan fix, so I went against my better judgement and read Mason. I loved/hated it. I love Tijan. I love the Fallen Crest series. I hate Mason sleeping around. I have a misguided sense of loyalty to Sam and feel like he's cheating on her. It's ridiculous since they haven't met yet when he's sleeping his way through the female population, but that's how I feel. This is a good addition to the series. It covers their early high school years including the end of their parent's marriage. It's the period right before they completely rule Fallen Crest. The beginning of the Legend's, so to speak. It provides more insight into Mason, Logan, and even Nate. I like getting the full story of how Mason and Logan came to be as strongly united as they are. Their family life sucked. It wasn't as bad as many have it growing up, but still, it was bad enough to damage both of them. Both parents disgust me. I love Mason's protectiveness towards Logan and Logan's hero worship of his older brother. My heart broke for both of them at times. I also really enjoyed getting to know Nate better. I never really understood how the bond was so strong between him and Mason before seeing what a good friend he was before being sent off. I hate Kate even more than I did originally after reading this book. Didn't think that was possible! Not a fan of Tate's either. My opinion of the FC girls didn't improve with more back story.I loved seeing the first contact between Mason and Sam in the Quickie's parking lot, but I was disappointed that the book ended right then. A companion novel to the first book, to see everything from Mason's view would be wonderful! I can't get enough of these two. This was a good Tijan fix, but I really need the next FC books to be released!!

I desperately wanted more of Samantha
It comes down to this-- Tijan writes fun, over the top stories, but in my opinion, she doesn't show us why the guy likes the girl. I really like her stories, I just wish there was that added chapter to explain what he is thinking. I was hoping that this book would show us Mason as he saw Samantha......you get the gas station scene and that is all. I was so disappointed! I struggled through the pages of his bad relationships knowing a good one was coming-- and we didn't get to see it. Then to have paid so much money for 100 pages or so......

GREAT BOOK
This book shows what divorce can do to a family. It shows how an older child feels that they have to take care of a younger child. The bottom line is Mason feels responsible for his brother Logan and he will do anything to protect him.Mason lives football, that's his other passion. He wants football to be his life and he's very, very good at it. He knows that as long as he's doing well at football his life will fall in line and he will have a great income and he will be able to help his brother if he needs it.The third thing you learn about Mason is that he's a bit of an ass*hole to women even though he sleeps his way through high school. Mason is chased by most women who see his incredible good looks and his tenacious pull towards football so he will be a great provider. This book is about Mason's teen years and how he makes it through. Both he and Logan have been damaged by their parents divorce but they make it through high school.

Love Mason & His Story
If you have never read any book by Tijan, I highly recommend this author! Her books are highly addictive, be prepared to not move and/or get anything done because you will want to finish it in one sitting, and you will have a new book boyfriend or two! This book is told in Mason's POV, but it starts a couple years before book 1. It ends where book 1 starts, but that is in Sam's POV. I decided to reread the series and this book was not out originally, but I'm so glad it was written! We get to see how everything came to be, more on the parents of a few characters, and more on characters in general. So if you're a fan and have read a few or most of the series, this is fun and gives you more information! It doesn't give spoilers, it is a prequel, or that's how I'm classifying it. Plus, who doesn't love more of the Kade's? Is your book boyfriend Mason Kade, Logan Kade, or someone else? Have fun reading!

Only 15/16 Year Olds - Really?๐ณ Emotive!!๐๐ญ๐ก๐ฅ
Mason (Fallen Crest Series Book #0.5)This is a really good insight to how Mason & Logan became so close & inseparable. They've lived in a mansion, had anything they wanted but never what they needed - their Parents affection & attention!๐๐ญ Their parents eventually split up & divorce, it's almost a relief to them, they won't hear their Mum sobbing every night every night now, while their Dad's out dipping his wick in anything that moves!!๐ข๐๐กMason's anger & rage keeps growing - the girls machinations to get close to them really gets to Mason, especially when Logan gets caught in the crossfire!๐ก๐ฒ He won't stand for more people hurting him, their Parents have already hurt him enough. The stuff all of these kids do & say for their ages, it's scary!!๐๐ณThis a good, insightful & explosive look in to the boys just before Samantha moves in with them!!๐๐ฅDebbie, 1970, UK

Good Additional Insight - Recommended for Fans of this Series
Overall, this was a great addition to the series and it provided further insight to Mason, Logan, and Nate. It covers quite an extensive period in their lives from Tate coming on the scene to Sam's arrival. I didn't like seeing Mason with other girls and I almost felt aggrieved on Sam's part which is ridic because 1) they are fictional characters and 2) Sam hadn't come into his life yet. I got all grrrr whenever Kate was in it, and I would have loved to reach into my Kindle and strangle the manipulative beatch. We see the real extent of Mason's protective nature in this novella, and a more vulnerable side of Logan. Loved that. I also enjoyed that we got to see Nate a little more as I've felt like his character has been underdeveloped in this series (it would be great if we got Nate's book in the future.)I adored seeing the first interaction between Mason and Sam in the forecourt of Quickie's but I was disappointed that it cut off then. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a proper companion novel to the first book, to see everything from Mason's perspective. There were parts where I felt Mason's inner monologue was too excessive for a male character and sections were there was too much telling and not enough showing, but overall it was a good read, and one I would recommend to readers of this series. You will come away more informed over certain scenes and characters.I'm kinda depressed now because I'm all up to date on the series and I need more. When is book 6 coming out?Actual rating 3.5 stars.

The perfect prequel
Mason is the prequel to the Fallen Crest series. This book focuses of amazon and Logan before Samantha and her mother moved in. If you love the Fallen Crest books this is the perfect insight into the boys. If youโre new to the series - welcome to Fallen Crest ๐ค where the Kade brothers rule ๐

Depressed
Reading about Mason makes me depressed that I don;t have him in the flesh! Screw Disney, I blame Tijan for my unrealistic expectations of men! This book although about Mason also made my heart break a little for Logan, you really see the basis of why he adores Mason so much and would literally do anything for him. I also love love loved reading about Mason & James' face off, it was sublime. Honestly the best take down of a parent in the history of take downs, as for the hussy's in the room getting their comeuppance it was just brilliant. I want more, give me more, PLEASE!

I loved this read. I loved seeing what mason and Loganโs lives were like before sam, why they are the people they became. I felt sorry for them and felt real emotion as you see a complete different side to them both especially mason. You feel a deeper connection with him
