Independently published Saving The World With The Home Garden: Improve Our Planet's Health With Natural Gardening Lessons Paperback

As a transplant from the East coast to the West, I had little understanding or regard for plants or trees native to California. I wanted lawns, flowers and trees like back east regardless of the seasons, weather systems or soils of my new surroundings. Encouraged by Charles' book I've visited native plant nurseries and realized all I might want was right here and just as beautiful. Now I have a mulch "lawn" hedged by native shrubs, bugs, and insects. My water bill is cut in half. My hillsides are healthy and holding the terrain in place with native groundcover. The occasional mushroom reminds me of the vast mycorrhizae underground network that spreads moisture hundreds of feet, along with aerating worms and bacteria. So much exciting information!! Recycling water bottles is fine, but this is the way to Save the World.

Really enjoying this book from the knowledge to the easy read and pictures. Very glad I purchased it resourceful. He makes it easy to understand the process not only with feeding plants and even the soil; but grafting and air layering! Makes me feel more confident in trying it myself.

This book gives the reader a gentle introduction to organic home gardening. It covers all the topic you need to get started and makes a strong case for building an organic, natural garden. The author's approach to gardening is rooted (pun intended!) in sound principles: supporting the native ecology. I also appreciated the discussion of the underlying biology of the plants, fertilizers, and the soil system. In addition to the book, I recommend checking out the associated IV Organic YouTube channel for additional content. For some topics like pruning and air layering, the instructional videos are quite helpful.

We love this book so much! Such an easy read. If you love gardening or want to learn how to garden, then this is the book for you. So much information and so well written. Also, makes a great gift for someone who loves gardening in your life
