NOT 6 inches wide or 6 inches tall
These are good heavy duty hangers, but they are not the size stated (6-inch by 6-inch). They are only 5 1/2 inches wide and only 4 1/4 inches tall. If you are using a milled 6x6, which is a nominal width of 5 1/2 inches, they will work just fine. I bought them to hang a beam made out of four 2x8s put together, which results in a full 6” width, so if I use them, the beam will have to be cut down where it goes into the hanger. The height is more of a problem since I am hanging the beam 2 inches lower than the board it's attaching to, so I will only have 2 inches or so to screw through. Good rating for quality, but very low marks for the description of this item.
