The Rook (The Twisted Kingdoms Book 2)

Can’t get enough, intriguing plot and characters
I really enjoyed the first book in this series and reread it several times, so I definitely had to preorder the second installment. I read it as soon as it came out and I did enjoy it but am left wanting more and kinda left disappointed because I was expecting more. There wasn’t a lot that happened and I feel like the author is turning Tempest into a Mary Sue with all these male characters always singing her praises and lusting after her. It’s too much. Otherwise I really like this series and the characters and will definitely be reading the third book as soon as it comes out. I just hope there is more going on and there is more interaction between the main characters of Tempest and Pyre. There wasn’t much interaction as there was in the first book and seeing as how Pyre is the love interest of Tempest, there should have definitely been more going on there. Tempest barely reveals her feelings. It was a great book but lacking some of the romance and great witty interactions that the first book had.

Kind of Disappointed
Ok, so I absolutely LOVED the first book. It was new and refreshing with such an original story and the character development was amazing. I preordered the second book and was counting down the days until The Rook was released. I even had a countdown in my phone lol. All I can say is I’m kind of disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, the story was still entertaining and I recommend reading it in order to stay up to date with the series, but nothing of significance happened in the book and it just didn’t have the same depth as the first book. The writing almost felt rushed and the story jumped all over the place with no loose ends tied up from the first book at all. Now, I know there is going to be a third book in 2021 so I’m just hoping it will save this series for me because I was so excited after the first book. And the back and forth between Tempest and Pyre is so repetitive and exhausting in The Rook-they didn’t progress at all. So basically I’m hoping the third book will have everything the first one did and more.

Oh the Twists!
Omg! Those final two lines! Even if this whole book sucked, those final lines would be worth it. Thankfully this books didn't suck 😄 And like usual, Frost has captured me in her snare and I'm impatient to see where my book friends go next. I will say that between the 15%-50ish% marks I did find myself struggling to read more than a few chapters at a time. Tempest just kept going in the same circles and the same inner struggles just kept repeating themselves so I would find myself growing easily bored. But I kept on reading because this is a book by Frost Kay and I know there's no way she'd release something where the main character didn't have any personal growth. Pyre's chapters reeled my right back in though and then she proved me right! Before I knew it I had to turn the page number/percentage counter off because I would see the number steadily increasing start stressing out that I was too near the end. And sure enough, when I turned onto that final page and read those final lines I kinda wanted to rage a bit and and find some way to get the next book stat! Also...Tempest can keep Pyre and all the other enamoured men but can I please have a little bit of Damien on occasion 😉

Can't wait for book 3!
A. Tempest's pictured hair is hair envy.B. This book was even better than the first. Action. Tension. Character growth.C. I have questions. Surely one of her Dad's is her Dad, ya know? Why is the King so gross? Can Tempest please cut his balls off before his head? Does she prefer Pyre or Mal? 😂 (I am glad that wasn't a love triangle forming.) And YES CHESH. Anybook makes me happy when they throw a good dragon in there. He's my new favorite newbie.Book 3 is too far away 😬😬😬😬😬

OMG!!!!!!
No words Frost Kay!!! You rule!! The storyline, the depth in caracters, everything was perfect!! I love our lady hound, she is kickass, fierce, fights for the weak, and best...no man can own her!!! And the Jester...i loved it when we could hear his thoughts, understand his feelings. So so much tension between them, made my day!!! Ive smiled so much that my face hurts! I love the protective uncles, and some new caracters ;)And OMG that ending!!!! Why Frost Kay....I cannot wait until 2021, I want to read NOW, end my suffering!!! This book should be turned into a couple of movies!!

A perilous game!
Tempest finds herself in the middle of two courts, that she is aware of, and multiple groups of people who want to use her to further their agendas. The second installment of The Rook is fast paced and exciting with more players revealed, and more plots being spun. Take the time to continue this great tale by Frost Kay!

Fun read!!
I enjoyed this book a lot. I was only planning to read a few chapters before going to bed but ended up finishing the whole book at 4 am. Book 2 continues from where book 1 left off. I don’t want to spoil anything but just have to say I can’t wait for book 3!!Can’t also decide if I’m Team Pyre or Team Mal.

Was ok..bit short and didnt didnt match the standard of the first book.
Loved the first book.. and was eagerly awaiting this one but sadly i was disappointed. This book was too short in my opinion and not enough happened apart from the same back n forth banter from the first book.Also.. our female character while complaining about men and the lust for power and control seems just as ready to join the battle all with the belief that her intentions are more honourable and more worthy than Pyres. This belief that she knows his peoples needs better than he does is kinda arrogant and annoying when in actual fact she barely knows him..shes just kinda spent the better half of two books being Judgemental and assuming. Not sure if i will follow along for the next book.Loved Pyre even as annoying as he was.. loved his friends and family.. Loved our female Hounds family.. not so sure about her though.

It was okay but a bit predicatble
Read book 1 and it was quite good 2 also entertaining. I found this predictable but easy reading. The fox ears on the guy in this is not a good look even in my imagination. I just cant see it working.. in fact i don't like it. I also don't like his language a lot of the time, the words he is given to speak. He isn't attractive as a character. The girl is the usual overly strong, plucky, beautiful and steel like in manner. Books are full of them, all much the same. There is a third book to come but not sure I will run to buy it unless loads of good reviews and a lot of surprises. Mostly know what is going to happen in these first two books. Its an easy read and relaxing. Well done for creating the story. Just think easier to kill the king and put his daughter in charge. think everyone will clap the killer. Job done!!
