Tools as in screwdriver? (Yes) screwing by hand/fingers (no) :)

Q: i am turning the screw and it is pulling out of the drywall how do I stop this from destroying the wall. the screws seem to be to tight

I haven't had that problem. Perhaps it's a defective anchor. Otherwise, I'd suggest using the next small diameter screw.

Q: can you cut these to make them shorter I have a need for anchors that short around 1/2 inch?

Unless the anchor will somehow be exposed on the backside you shouldn't have to cut them down. I used them on both 1/2" and 5/8" drywall.
