I wanted to like this wheel, it is sturdy, it rotates quietly, it stays in place thanks to the rubber bottom. And even though I was impressed with the overall build, ultimately it fails in its one basic function... rotating freely. Once you give it a spin, it stops rotating pretty quickly. Without any extra weight on it, on a soft swing, it'll do 2 rotations before coming to a stop. On a harder swing, about 10. I expected less friction in the bearings, but for the price I suppose it could have been worse. Still, I needed/wanted a freer rotation than this wheel can give me. But if you want to be continually turn it with your one free hand, this may work for you.

It's not the best banding wheel. Mine arrived in good condition, unlike others'. The silver color of the wheel head appears to be paint. The wheel doesn't spin as freely as it should, so I can't give it a spin and paint a line. I have to continously move it along. It appears to be level, although I haven't tested it yet. Overall, it will do what I need it to do, but it's definitely not top of the line.

This banding wheel is fairly heavy and solid for the price I paid. It spins evenly, and smoothly.The only thing that could be improved is the bottom is metal with a foam insert. Would be better with rubber feet or something not foam. I guess that’s why it’s cheap. 😉But I’ve been using this Banding wheel a lot and it’s holding up great.I recommend it.Slab build potter...

After reading the reviews of many of the other wheels offered on Amazon, I was initially skeptical of this one. Visually, it was similar to another brand that boasted a litany of complaints regarding rough castings and scratchy bearings. But the wheel on this unit is beautifully cast, the bearings are as smooth as silk, and it is heavy enough that it stays put on the table because of built in rubber pad on the base. If you can't afford a Shimto, this is the one you want

This banding wheel is a lot cheaper than the wheels from the ceramic shops. However, it will not continue to turn/ spin for any length of time. My husband had to inject grease into the joint to make it spin better, but it is not enough. However, I am rating this with 4 stars because because I am using it for all sorts of applications in my pottery endeavors, just not banding.
