Bought this product when a Cairn Terrier I rescued continued to have severe symptoms that ranged from shaking her head violently and scratching furiously at her ears literally all day and all night long. Prescription medicine from the vet failed, but Eco-Ears worked like a charm! I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how very incredibly effective this product has proven to be, and that is saying a great deal since I expected it to work. You see, I did a considerable amount of research into what worked and what didn't work before I settled on this treatment. In my efforts, I also researched several other recommended products. This one was the most promising, however, because that research ultimately revealed that each of its ingredients were well-established as being helpful for the problems for which we needed solutions. I expected that this would work like the thousands of reviewers before me had testified that it worked for them. What I hadn't anticipated was how virtually immediate its effectiveness would prove or how long-lasting its effects proved to be. In only three days of treatment with EcoEars, we appear to have resolved the condition and symptoms altogether. Its been more than 9 days since she last scratched her ears or shook her head. I cannot believe it! But, honestly, 9 days! Thirty days of prescription medicine and two weeks of prescription ear drops failed miserably at getting her any relief. EcoEars took three days. Wow! I am so very thankful for this product! My Cairn Terrier is, too, but she wouldn't convince you of that if you could see her right after we've "doctored her ears." That is a sight that probably would make you think otherwise. This frantic behavior she displays is hilarious to watch, really, but that is only because I know she hasn't been harmed or subjected to any pain from this ear treatment, and, too because I know she won't be scratching those inflamed ears or shaking her head crazily once I've used this product to take care of her needs. Now, should you need this for comparison or for your own decision-making uses, here is a bit more background on the problems which led me to find Eco-Ears for use with my rescued Cairn Terrier... When I got her, she had huge black areas on her rear legs that were scaly and itchy, and from which she had chewed away almost all of her coat's fur. Our trusted vet did some testing and we learned that most of this was from an infection of candida (yeast) and its overgrowth on the skin. So, we did a prescription medication of ketoconazole for 30 days, twice weekly baths with a medicated shampoo containing chloride hexahydrate and topical ketoconazole for a month, along with twice daily treatment of her ears for 2 weeks with the broad spectrum prescription medicine Maxi-Otic. In addition, I researched and developed a little something of my own to use topically which included a special blend of key essential oils in a base of coconut and argan oils. I used this to supplement the traditional treatments my vet ordered and to more quickly heal her skin. On follow-up with the vet, he described her progress as remarkable: though improvement was expected, it was not expected to have cleared up as well as it had. The blackened, scaly and thickened skin that had covered her back legs was softer, more supple, regrowing hair, and almost back to normal. I told him about my secret weapon, and he wanted to know what was in my "proprietary blend" (LOL). However, I had not been so lucky with her ears. The medicine we'd tried on those danged ears failed to clear the chronic infection by yeast which my vet identified as their invaders. I was given another bottle of it, but I wasn't pleased with the initial results enough to keep using it. That's what led me to more research. The Internet had tons of talk about this very thing, by any and everybody, and some of them claimed they had found the answers: apple cider vinegar, isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol), hydrogen peroxide, distilled white vinegar, coconut oil, tea tree oil, etc. Well, further research verified what I already knew: apple cider vinegar stinks incredibly badly; rubbing alcohol can burn and contains water which contributes moisture that yeast love, vinegars contains water (upto 94% or more) but it is acetic, and, though mild, can cause a burning sensation; hydrogen peroxide (is app. 97% water, and breaks down into--guess what--more water; coconut oil is greasy and probably is not yet proven as the antimicrobial agent that many claim it to be; and tea tree essential oil can be toxic to dogs (absolutely do not use tea tree essential oil without consulting your veterinarian first and/or if you do not know how to make sure the pure EO is properly diluted to a level that is made considerably safer and less toxic for use with dogs since undiluted uses in the ears can cause ototoxicity leading to hearing loss including acquired deafness). A career in massage therapy and an education that included aromatherapy with essential oils inspired a belief in homeopathic uses for essential oils, so I did more extensive research. When the data I found was not yet tried and true, I was made more apprehensive about using any of these in my dog's ears. But I had amassed a lot of information which included historical uses of several natural remedies that were purportedly effective. So, I began looking for commercial solutions in lieu of making my dog a guinea pig for any irresponsible animal testing. I found several products marketed for this very problem in dog's ears, and one of these was EcoEars. Among these, a check of listed ingredients proved helpful when I confirmed that ingredients in Eco Ears were reliable and safe. I also observed the most consistent satisfaction by users who reviewed any of the leading products for this purpose was decidedly held by buyers of EcoEars. Fortunately, their reported successes and satisfactions were just what I needed to support my decision to try EcoEars. Am I glad I did! I have a much less irritated Cairn Terrier, and thanks to EcoEars, her ears are no longer leading her to do any more of the formerly furious scratching or rigorous head shaking. If only I had this at my disposal when I got her. I feel bad because I could have known about EcoEars and might have stopped her unnecessary suffering straight away. I have an older female purebred black Labrador, 12 1/2 yrs old named Rose who has really suffered from constant ear infections for many years. I took her to the vet a few years ago about this problem and was advised to have her whole inner ear surgically removed! That is definitely something I would not consider. Surgery cannot be undone and can lead to interference fields in other parts of the body. I don't remember the cost, but it was not cheap. Also got an $80 bill for the useless vet visit. I have been trying other anti-fungals such as coconut oil, tea tree oil, oregano oil, hydrogen peroxide, herbal ear washes, etc. but they were not as comprehensive as the EcoEars. I like that all the ingredients work together to knock out the infection very quickly, within the prescribed 10 days. The first couple days, when I did the application as suggested, I could tell by her reaction, that it was very uncomfortable as it attacked the infection creating maybe a burning sensation inside her ears. We had a fresh snowfall just 2 weeks ago and when I took her outside, she was rolling head first into the snow for some relief with vigorous head shaking to get rid of the fluid. This happened several days in a row, but I could tell it was improving. Each time was less irritating for her. She wanted to get away from me when it was time to clean her ears, but I think she also knew it was helping her ears heal. I used a single paper towel to absorb any excess and to wipe out both ears & then toss...wasn't that messy. Last week, I bought the Wax-Vac ear cleaner from a local Walmart (less than $10) to try to vacuum out any debris and excess moisture. It's not necessarily made for pets, but I think it's beneficial. Rose doesn't mind the gentle suction and even helps cool off her ears internally. I have already recommended EcoEars to several people as it's a terrific product. I only used a small portion of the 8 oz bottle I purchased which is nice because I'll probably use it periodically to keep her ears healthy. P.S. I took my dog off all commercial dogfood 9 mos. ago...had her on the most expensive grain-free brands. I switched her to a raw meat diet which did wonders to clear up her dry itchy skin and all the excessive shedding and dander, plus got rid of the stinky smell and she lost the extra weight! On the high-priced dry, grain-free dogfood, she constantly scratched and bit her hind quarters to relieve the itching. The dry dogfood contributes to drying out their skin, but the raw diet replenishes the fat and oils to stop the shedding, the smell and all the itching. There's a recipe at dinovite.com. I use quinoa instead of white rice because quinoa is not a grain. Also, I throw in tumeric powder (anti-inflammatory) for arthritis, slippery elm bark powder, nettle leaf, granulated garlic, and fennel seed powder...all good for relieving dry, itchy skin. Dinovite also recommends feeding your dog coldwater fish..i.e. salmon, mackerel & sardines alternately for the healthy Omega-3 oils in their diet. I use the canned versions, even tuna, and she loves it! Rose is healthy and active for her age and now much better since her ears don't bother her. She only has just a little white on her chin so I think she's aging well. I don't buy or feed her any dog snacks either as they are full of junk and many are being recalled off the market with increasing frequency. As a treat, I give her beef soup bones usually boiled for 10-15 minutes. She can chew on those for a long time. She also loves dried roasted seaweed or Nori which is full of vitamins and minerals. I buy it at Safeway or Walmart very inexpensively. Another treat is a couple spoonfuls of coconut oil if its not liquid. I've thought about making my own beef or chicken jerky for her too with a healthy marinade like coconut aminos (found at health food stores) instead of soy sauce. Hope these suggestions can help you give your dog comfort, well-being and a clean bill of health. So glad I made the changes for Rose. She's much more content. EcoEars was a plus.

I have used this product for the last three days and so far so good... I have a cock-a-poo and have had spent lots of $$ in treating his ear infections that continue to return after medical treatments. My dog's ears were red and inflammed and the day after my first use of Eco Ears, my dog's ears were amazingly clear. My advice is that you do this in a open area outside of your home if possible. I treat mine in my patio with an old blacket on the floor for him. My dog goes 'crazy' after I let him loose after treatment. For about an hour he is shaking the excess out and rubbing his ears on the rug. When I look at his ears, they are red so I think it may have a stinging sensation. (probably the alcohol and peroxide in this formula) He also drinks a lot of water.... However, after that, he returns to normal and I could tell the medicine is working and he is relaxed. makes me feel good that this treatment is made of more natural ingredients. Product smells nice. The infection, however, smells bad so the bad smell overrides the pleasant smell when your dog is shaking his ears. Hope this was helpful... I'll try to post an update at a later time.

I tried EcoEars Dog Ear Infection Formula & Cleaner - 8 oz. after using three other commercial products and one home-made treatment. My Basset Hound's ears were producing brown goo almost every 24 hours. My vet gave me some oily prescription med to use that was ineffective. It actually made her ears a mess. I then tried a commercial medicated ear cleaner that used all natural ingredients and was alcohol free. It was great at cleaning the ears but did nothing to clear the infection. I then purchased a product that was advertised to clear most dog ear infections but also did not work. It was also of the clear, oily variety. I always stayed away from any preparation that had alcohol because I feared it would be too tough on the dog's sensitive ears. I finally decided to give a popular home remedy a shot, 50% isopropyl alcohol and 50% white vinegar. It worked! It stung for sure for the first three applications but it really cleaned the ears and severely slowed the return of the brown gunk. I felt I was on to something, so I checked out Amazon and decided to give EcoEars a shot. I've been using it for just under 10 days and it has cleaned my dog's ears nicely and has finally stopped the return of the brown goo. The smell leaves a lot to be desired. It's really effective in cleaning the ear and disrupting the environment that permits various types of infections to live and grow so I have no problems with the smell. After the infection is stopped, after about three days in my case, the EcoEars doesn't smell nearly as bad but it's still not a very pleasant smell in my opinion. A minor issue considering EcoEars was the first product I tried that worked, but be aware that you may not like the smell. Take your dog to the vet before using this or any over-the-counter preparation to insure the ear drum isn't ruptured due to the infection. Cleaners like this should never enter the middle ear. Once you're sure the ear drum is intact follow the instructions and treat the infected ear once a day. You have to almost fill the ear canal with the product and rub the base of the ear gently but firmly while hearing a "sloshy" sound. It helps to have someone help you hold the dog's head because some will want to pull away and you have to massage the ear for a minute or more for the product to be fully effective. The instructions say you can perform twice-a-day treatments after four or five days if you don't see improvement but I stayed with one treatment a day and got good results. I then wiped out the ear with soft tissues to help remove the gunk and help dry it out. You have to shake EcoEars before use! Ingredients will separate in the bottle and you want to make sure you're getting the proper mixture in the ear. Try to warm the product to room temperature so your dog isn't shocked by cold liquid in his ear, give it a good shake, and administer. I will recommend this product to my friends. EcoEars worked for me and I suspect it will work for you if you have a dog with "smelly yucky" ears.

I don’t often leave reviews but this ear cleaner really deserves the highest praises. My pit bull had an ear infection for almost 6 months after getting into a little spat with another dog. I spent almost $400 on vet bills between visits, cleanings, antibiotics, steroids, sprays, suspensions, you name it. I tried all the natural stuff - coconut oil, apple cider vinegar, and every type of solution I could make at home. Nothing worked. It would get better while I was using it then go right back to leaking brown goo and smelling like something died. I found great reviews about this on several blogs and by this point had nothing to lose. My pup was always irritated and uncomfortable and the vets actually suggested amputating her ear. I used this as directed for 10 days. For all 10 days, she wore a cone, just so I could make sure she didn’t mess with it. I would shake the bottle, my husband held her on her side while I poured some liquid into her ear, just until it was spilling out. Then I rubbed the base of her ear for 1-2 minutes and wiped with a cotton ball. Twice a day for ten days. I was a little skeptical by days 8-9 after not seeing much progress (especially after reading that some cleared up after just a couple days) but continued doing it. Then on day 10, I noticed no more brown goo coming out of her ear and no odor. Just to be sure it stuck, I continued once a day for five days. Then twice a week for two weeks. Then once a week for a few more weeks It’s been 2 months since I started this treatment and the ear infection hasn’t come back. She doesn’t scratch it at all. I’m so amazed and I can’t be happier that this $20 bottle of solution saved my dog’s ear. If you’re on the fence at all...buy this. Just do it, don’t hesitate. First of all, I would like to thank each and every person who took the time to review this product. Your positive reviews made the difference in my decision to purchase, and I am so grateful I did! Nearly every large breed dog we have ever owned has battled stinky sludgy ear infections. It always means visits to the vet, antibiotics, solutions that never truly clear the infection, etc. The past three years has sent me on a journey for our family to be as holistic as possible and really think about the things we are putting in our bodies. It's had a trickle down affect on our animals, and this product fits the bill. I cannot believe that we have used it for three days and the smell and gunk are already gone! I was leaning over her this morning and hugging her like I always do around her neck, but I can almost always smell the presence of infection. While the infection may still be be there (we still have seven days of this treatment cycle to go) it's obvious this solution has made a difference that we have never experienced in all of our years owning pets. Top to bottom, it's superior. The bottle is extremely easy to use. She doesn't love seeing the bottle coming toward her, so we have started to put the medication in the cap or just soak a soft cloth to massage down in her ear. The smell is incredible!!! It smells clean, natural, and has zero hints of any chemical undertone. The only ingredient that I would say is not necessarily "natural" is the polysorbate which is used as an emulsifier and in this case I'm assuming to help it coat the inside of her ear. The witch hazel and tea tree oil are my favorite of the incidents and act as a powerhouse combination to soothe and heal. I simply cannot say enough good things. Once her infection treatment cycle has ended, we will likely treat her once or twice a month just for preventive maintenance. I am incredibly grateful. I purchased a bottle of this Eco ears and boy does that have a strong smell to it I opened it up and took a whiff boy. I tell what that stuff is strong smell stayed my nose for a while. I’m double thinking whether I’d put it in my dog’s ear

One of my dogs has had ear infections for her whole life. I have gone through the long gambit of buying every oily, expensive, messy Rx sold by Vets, for seven years, without ANY long term cure. Even getting the dog's ears irrigated (under sedation) at the Vet did not cure it. The yeasty ear infection in one ear always returned. THIS EcoEars product finally cleaned it up. I have had perfect results with this product. This really cleans the gunk out of the ears like NOTHING I have ever used!. That is the first step to getting rid of a chronic, long-standing ear infection. Whatever you use is not going to cure the infection until the gunk and residue is out of the ear. 1. If your dog's ear are raw and inflamed on the outside from scratching, I would NOT put this on the outside raw areas AT FIRST. I would coat the EXTERIOR outside raw areas with vaseline, or a bit of triple antibiotic cream, to soothe them. THEN apply this product inside the ears. After a couple of days-- when the scratching stops-- I would clean the vaseline off with a warm wet paper towel, dry the ear, then apply EcoEars all over the inside flap of the ear and down into the ear. (I had a new scratch on my hand when I used it and could feel it burn. This step saves the dog from further misery.) 2. GENTLY massage the ear to keep the product inside as long as possible. Then put a big cotton ball in the ear canal opening (do NOT push the cotton down too far) and let her loose to shake the ears. I recommend doing this outside if you can! The cotton ball will catch some of the mess. Gently dab any loose gunk that comes out when your dog is finished shaking. Check the ears, and be sure the cotton balls are out of the ear at this point. 3. After several days, or even a week or two, depending on the severity of the infection OR once the ear is clean and you can't smell that yeasty odor, I recommend switching to ZYMOX OTIC HC 1.0% for a couple of weeks. The Zymox Otic product will help balance the pH and the enzymes will be able to do their job on the now clean ear. It is an oily gentle product. 4. REPEAT as needed. If your dog has long-standing, reoccurring ear infections, you will have to be vigilant and repeat these steps until the ears are clean and healthy again. It is very difficult, I know. My tendency is to stop as soon as the dog gets relief. Now I leave the the two products out on a table with a big bag of cotton balls so I am constantly reminded to keep it up. (Be sure to buy 100% cotton balls, and not the "cosmetic cotton balls" that often have synthetics added that can irritate the ears even further. As long as I have dogs, I will never be without this EcoEars Dog Cleaner and the ZYMOX OTIC HC 1.0%. I can't recommend BOTH of them enough. Together they have fixed a seven year ear infection!
