Push the injectors into the root well of your trees, attach the reservoirs and fill. The entire process takes less than a minute, and will soak 5 cubic feet of soil per fill. Tree I.V. can be filled multiple times if needed, but it can also be moved out to the drip line to encourage root systems to spread outward. This is a problem with watering bags as they are limited to the trunk area. Other advantages to watering bags are superior durability, ease of filling, and "Fill-n-Haul" feature for watering remotely located trees. Drain time is determined by the natural percolation rate of the soil, which is usually 10-15 minutes. Watering once a week with Tree I.V. gives your trees a natural soak-dry cycle which is best to avoid over watering. However I wish you had the ability to close the valve at the bottom until the bucket is full. You almost have to fill a different 5 gallon bucket with water and dump it in.
