Nickolai Is Intense
*****Spoilers*****This whole book takes place in a week which is inconceivable how quickly it moves in terms of the relationship between Chloe and Nickolai. Nickolai is incredibly intense and does absolutely nothing to hide his desire for Chloe from the very first time they interact. She's on the run from assassins and is able to talk herself in to the job at Nickolai's compound as his son Slava's English language teacher. Food, safety, new clothes, cash payments, and a place to live are all hers.Chloe seems to have an inexplicable aversion to violence. Her mother was killed and we find out at the end of the book that the person behind it is a presidential candidate, presumably because she and her mother represent a stain on his pristine image and could potentially derail his campaign dreams. Chloe doesn't know why she's being targeted though and has little resources to get to the bottom of things. She's trying to go it alone but at times, I couldn't help but think that she's grasping at straws and could've done better to say something to Nickolai. Nickolai who has a brother experienced in the tech world. In any case, Chloe's questionable decisions aside, this book is very well written and engaging from the beginning. The characters are varied and understandably different and there's not wasted book space on irrelevant information. I absolutely HATE that Chloe ran after hearing Alina's, Nickolai's sister, account of Nickolai without bothering to give him the chance to explain. Alina tells Chloe that Nickolai is a bad man and killed their father while gone off drugs. True it may be, but Chloe leaves even knowing she was safe where she was, that Nickolai was prepared to help her with the assassin's, and after having bonded with Slava. I couldn't help but shake my head the whole time at the idiocacy, and of course, the assassins indeed catch up to Chloe and almost kill and rape her before Nickolai comes to her rescue.I think this one could've been much longer and taken place over a longer period of time to satisfy but still good.

I canNOT wait for book 2!
I’ve come to depend on a certain kind of Hero, from Anna Zaires. Intense, focused, dark, with a moral line HE’S drawn and more than willing to do what’s needed to get his job done. He makes a decision and moves forward, as needed. And Nikolai Molotov did not disappoint.Chloe is a smart and loving character. I wouldn’t call her sweet, but rather she has a heart, an openness and a willingness to learn and understand. She’s running from an unknown and terrifying danger, and finds refuge in the Molotov mountain compound as a live in tutor for Nikolai’s son Slava. The attraction and tension is immediate between Nikolai and Chloe, while the author weaves a story allowing Slava his moments to shine. He’s not a plot devise to bring two people together. He’s a slowly unfolding and intricate piece of this world. Characters like Alina, Pavel and Lyudmila are welcome additions, with personalities and a place in the unfolding story.Absolutely wonderful and un-put-down-able read. Fast paced, smooth, intense, intriguing, dangerous, mysterious and hot. I can NOT wait for book 2!I did receive a copy of this book from the author and I’m voluntarily leaving my honest review. I’ve also had my preorder in place for awhile, and will be rereading this one again and again.

Story so well written it is hard to put down!
Rich and well written story! It was hard to put the book down. The story has enough detail to feel like you could be right in the story, yet not so much it is muddy.

A slow burn leading to an explosive ending!
DEVIL'S LAIR is the introductory book in Molotov Obsession, the newest dark romance world from Anna Zaires. Though it is the first half of a duet, it brings the sizzle and doesn't let off the gas pedal once the action begins. Yes, action - and not just between the sheets.Chloe Emmons is your every day, average twenty-three year old, enjoying a cross country road trip post-graduation. She leaves her phone behind to drop off the radar and purge her soul of technology's heavy grip. At least, that is what she tells Nikolai Molotov, a reclusive Russian seeking a live-in tutor for his son in their secluded estate in Utah. The truth is, Chloe is on the run, scared for her life, and flat broke. She has had to choose between gas and food and she is desperate for a break. A chance peek through a small town's classifieds sparks a little hope.Nikolai is far from home, enjoying a relaxing retreat in the mountains. Life in America is simple and quiet and perfect for teaching his little boy English. Or so he claims when he interviews Chloe for the open tutor position. Nikolai's family secrets must remain hidden lest he scare off the young woman he is instantly drawn to and wants to claim.Because Chloe is already jittery and jumping at shadows, with good reason, she begins to suspect Nikolai of nefarious dealings. Her safety is at stake, she is sure, but is the mansion atop a mountain worth the three grand a week in pay? Is she better off in the Russian's cozy compound, her heart hostage to a man she believes to be in the mafia, or chancing life on the road, fleeing the men she knows for a fact are trying to kill her?Anna Zaires' DEVIL'S LAIR is an addictive read, keeping readers engaged until a very harrowing finale. But, it's not the end of Chloe and Nikolai's story. This first half of their duet is a slower-to-the bedroom tale of forbidden employer-employee romance filled with anxiety and second-guesses over what could be, but once they accept their attraction and give in to their desires, they burn down the page. The pair are well and truly made for each other, matching wit and lust and passion. Though the dark aspects are merely hinted at as possible (and probably forthcoming in the second half of the duet), DEVIL'S LAIR provides a blended flavor of Zaires' Twist Me and Tormentor Mine series. There is nothing not to love in this first Molotov Obsession book.

incredible read.
This book is amazing. I was unable to put it down once I started. I was so desperate for a good dark easy to read book after I had just finished a not so great ARC I was sent by a different author and I had Devils Lair sitting on my TBR list for ages. I was between this a four other books of what I should read and the blurb had me pulling up this on my kindle and let me tell you. I am so beyond happy I picked this book. It was exactly what I was looking for and what I needed. I was hooked right from the start. There’s a mixture of insta-attraction. Slow burn. Suspense and mystery. Just enough darkness and spice. I can’t wait to read book two. I ordered the paper back on Amazon and now have to wait five whole days to read book 2. I’m considering also purchasing the ebook so I can start it right away. That’s how amazing this book is.

Great !
Bonne histoire belle intrigue, une romance épicée, j'ai hâte de lire la suite avec je l'espère un développement qui concernera aussi la sœur du personnage principal. On est loin de la romance fleur bleue mais je recommande +++

So thrilling and beautifully written
I was quite taken with the plot and enjoyed the sense of danger that marked the main character. Also, the moments of tenderness between Chloe and Slava and the fatherly love between Slava and Nikolai contrasts the image you'd have about bad people. It so beautifully written too. Funny how sometimes depending on how a writer portrays a character, a reader could potentially disregards how evil or bad a person is when in real life you would disapprove of their actions big time. It is a must read.
