Bought these filters in hopes of replacing the Drinkwell Platinum filter that came with my fountain. After changing it out, I noticed that carbon dust was being left behind in my cat's fountain.Having used plenty of carbon filters, I figured a little bit of carbon was normal. However, the carbon dust continued to build up and began leaving a slimy residue that will turn into black mold if left unwashed. How does a filtered water fountain *cause* mold when this has never been an issue with the old filter?This has caused my cat to drink less water and resulted in MULTIPLE UTI infections. Please DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY on these off brand filters.

Well I've used Drinkwell fountains for many years and up until this purchase have never had an issue with filters becoming slimy. I have three cats and have dis-assemble the entire unit once a week on Sundays, for a total cleansing. I purchased these filters on 2/14/2014 and as of today 8/8/2014 I am completely out of them. That is just under 7 months for 12 filters. What is worse is that I was washing the filters out in between cleansings. These should last a month like the other's did. My belief is that the company is using cheaper material, changed the design or these are knock-offs? The water was so nasty within the week I tore apart my pump each time - as there was clumps of slim in the pump.My water has not changed, I get the full panel on my water every year. Something changed with this product. I have not decided where to get my next bunch but as of right now I am out.
