DeVilbissbiss DEVDPC-654 DeKups Demo Trial Kit

I am building a a 1951 Chevy pickup with an LS engine. The truck body was not in very good shape and I hadn't painted a car or truck for years. When it was time to finish the body work and begin assembly, there was, for me, a steep learning curve. I had a Devilbiss Finishline spray gun for applying the final base coats but had used a different system for applying epoxy primer. Clean up was always a major pain. It added a lot of time to the process of applying primer and something I did not look forward to.I am not a professional. This was a project I did in my spare time and I spent a lot of time online looking for the best way to accomplish the task at hand. That was how I learned about the DeVilbiss DeKups system. The Finishline gun sprays much better than the other brand I used for primer and, the DeKups system made clean up MUCH, MUCH easier. Set up and prep went faster. There were no leaks when spraying at all. With care, you can spray the HLVP gun at just about any angle. Even better, this particular kit on Amazon is a great bargain. It comes with everything you need to get started - even an adapter that fits the Finishline gun and several other DeVilbiss guns. Other adapters for different model spray guns are available, of course.I am, admittedly, a weekend mechanic/painter. There are more expensive guns and systems out there for someone who paints for a living but, the DeVilbiss Finishline and DeKups system is perfect for me and my budget. My only minor negative comment is that DeKups components are a little pricey unless you buy this particular Amazon starter kit. It really is great system,though, and my truck looks great. I will definitely be using the DeKups system on my next restoration project.

I ordered this kit to see if the dekups are more convenient than the standard gravity cup. After reading reviews about the spray gun adapter, all reviews and answers said it came with the adapter for the tek and finishline gun. So I ordered the 43 adapter for the gti. To my great surprise and happiness, this kit came with the 43 adapter. I’m not sure if it’s a random thing about which adapter they put in the kit but I definitely lucked out. I haven’t used the dekups yet as the humidity has been ridiculous. Also noted was the fact that the instructions have the cup to body washer removed. So now I will have to return the bag of 5 washers @ $29. I will also be returning the adapter I purchased separately. I know it isn’t about the dekups but it would have been nice to see the instructions on devilbiss’ website. I will update this review after I get the chance to use the actual product.Update: 6-16-21The humidity was low enough to paint so I got the chance to use this system. It works very well. The liners are rather flimsy but much easier to use than the plastic bags. I don’t do a lot of painting and I’m using my old Gti gun. This doesn’t solve spraying at an upward angle when you’re low on paint but it is a lot easier to cleanup when you’re done. If the need arises I will buy more of the liners.
