not bad, too much focus on the heroine being plain and not at all pretty
this was ok because unlike many of her heroines, the heroine in this book was independently wealth. Many of her heroine's border on the gold-digger type. But the reason for the low scores was fact that it focused far too much on the heroine being "plain" and the hero being "good-looking", to the point that there was very little chemistry. They rarely spent a week together without the heroine throwing tantrums, but she's meant to be "sensible" and there's loads of times when she changes from being a quiet meek girl listening to the Great Doctor recount his hard-tolling at the hospital, to being a silly immature brat - to the point that it gets confusing. The plot was a bit dull with not much happening. I also found the part when she (the heroine) falls for a gold-digger too convenient and contrived.IT's also weird how the hero being such a rich noblemen would become a Physician tolling away like a self made man. The medical field isn't normally what uber wealthy aristocrats get involved in.I also noticed that many of the author's prejudices come through in this book. It's weird as Betty Neals loves marrying her pauper heroine's off to rich aristocratic hero's, and calls people old-fashioned and prejudice if they might take exception to that, but she makes several digs at titles changing from "Matron" to a more politically correct professional name. But i suppose people weren't into feminism back thenOverall, not a bad book but the whole "she's so plain" did ruin the story.

Always good!
Excellent read. Keeps you on your toes, and shows the ups and down of romance, but nicely!

Stern love
I did not like this story as much as her other novels. Fabian was so stern, cutting, had little kindness though he was good at organising her life. I don't know how she fell in love with him.
