This control just plugs into the wall outlet and the light string plugs into it. Now I just have to push a button and my lights are on. No more walking in in the dark I can turn them on and off from inside my house. I am very happy with the controller as the lights were really too bright for a leasurely evening on my patio, the 25% power button is all I need for a quiet evening outside, but if I have a large party the switch will go to 50% or 75% to 100%.

My old dimmer unit finally quit working. I was one of the lucky ones who did not have a problem with that product. It was used an ambient light for my den (TV room) and the sofa is about 5 ft from the floor lamp using an incandescent 200 Watt bulb. When that unit quit working I decided not to repurchase because of so many reviews that reported theirs catching on fire.I found this and then searched for an appropriate dimmable bulb ... purchased a Sansi A19 LED because it was rated high by customers using it.I just plugged this Palawell unit into my surge protector and the floor (torchiere style) lamp into it with new bulb installed. Removed the plastic insulating sheet in the remote pressed ON and the light came on immediately. Pressed 25%, then 50%, then 75%.It works perfectly so far.If there is a problem later I will update this review.Meanwhile I am thrilled to not have to leap up 50 times a night falling over a cat or 2 to reset the light, or turn it off or on.

It works with my S14 Edison-style LEDs! I bought this dimmer to use with a set of outdoor LED string lights (Edison style bulbs; 2w each) which I have hung along the length of my patio privacy fence. I plugged the dimmer into the string lights and an outdoor extension cord, removed the tab protecting the battery in the remote, and pushed the "on" button. The lights lit up first time with no problem. I can turn the lights on/off from inside my home, and I can also dim them. There are 4 pre-set dimmer settings (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%), and also a variable + / - like the volume button on a t.v. remote. So far, I am very impressed, especially as they are rated for outdoor and supposedly waterproof!

Originally, this product worked well. It was very easy to use and we enjoyed the flexibility of being able to dim lights to our desired level around our patio. However, having only had it installed for about two weeks, it no longer works. It's on all the time, but it is no longer controllable by the remote. We can't even use the remote to turn it off. I changed the remote battery, but that didn't help. I think the receiver portion has failed...and only after about two weeks of useage. I'm not at all happy with this product.

Unfortunately this quit working 1 day after I spent 4 hours installing exterior lights. I foolishly thought the lights had gone bad and took them all back down to put new ones in. Plugged a new set in to test and they wouldn’t come on. Unplugged the dimmer/timer and plugged both sets into the wall outlet and voila, they both worked. I am rating one star across the board because it worked when tested, did my install which took a long time and it stopped working the next day. A lot of wasted effort. I’m hoping it is returnable.

The controller actually works well...The reason to the 1 star review is totally about safety of people and property (in this case, my $700 worth of lights for my patio).I originally purchased this about 1 week ago, installed to control 5 post low voltage light fixtures in our patio, by a professional certified electrician.In a matter of 2 days (after an Power outage), the lights stopped working. I had the electrician return and check the status of the line, to find out that the controller box had burned out. The electrician went a step further and examined the box and cut the cables off the outlet connector, to find out that there was no ground line on the cable... (fake ground connector). BUYER BE AWARE!!!....I said I’m going to give the company the benefit of the doubt and maybe that was one controller that some how skipped quality control, (which it should not be the case when dealing with electrical devises). I purchased a second controller and to my surprise, yes! No ground as advertised....You can watch the video where the cable is cut and the fake ground line exposed.Is sad to see this garbage being sold by many businesses... Better quality control your reputation is on the line....

We used this to control three strands of outdoor LED string or "cafe" lights. It's easy to use and install--just plug the extension cord powering the lights into this unit and plug it into an outlet. It has screw holes for easy attachment to a wall. The remote is especially nice in that it offers four brightness settings, as well as a continuous dimmer. It also has a timer setting for 2 or 4 hours. My only desire is for some kind of manual switch or controls. It would be useless without the remote. Not a big deal, and I'm sure that kept the price down. A great product.

Received this dimmer on time and attached it to my light string, the remote works from the bottom of a hill to adjust brightness or to turn off lights. It has gone through a heavy rain storm and functions perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone needing an outdoor dimmer.
