Final Cut Pro Efficient Editing

As some have said in their reviews, this is not a reference book. It is a course in Final Cut and as such I found it extremely helpful. I come from a still photography background and I found Final Cut a bit confusing at first. Colour corrections work quite differently than in Lightroom for example. The library/event/project structure is also a bit odd at first. As well, lot of Final Cut's shortcuts and menus seem a bit unintuitive but this book guides you through the weeds and brambles quite well. You just have to stick with it to the end as you would in any course.

Amazing would recommend to all video editors. Especially newer ones.

Incredible resource for those learning Final Cut Pro

Even though I was warned that this book was "thorough" and a "bible on Final Cut", I went ahead and bought it while learning. My recommendation to others is to learn "the basics" of very simple projects first, and learn those basics well. You can do that from more basic books or from Ripple Training, which I found excellent.This book, Efficient Editing, is for someone who fully knows the basics and is completely comfortable with the Mac file system and the way Final Cut organizes projects.

This book is great. If you were finding yourself on youtube trying to get all of your FCP questions answered, but coming up short, this is the book for you. There is also a great chapter about some of the more technical aspects of film making such as codecs, frame rates, and the benefits of different ones. This sets the stage for setting up your projects/Libraries in FCP. After that you will get all your questions answered and more. I would have missed out on a lot of good stuff just trying to click my way through youtube. This book is set up in a way such that you can do an edit of your own while working through it. Kindle version makes it easy to jump back to previous topics.
