Meanwhile, Back at Café Du Monde . . .: Life Stories about Food

My favorite new book about my favorite food destination in the world
Who doesn't have a favorite food or a favorite recipe---or a favorite life story revolving around a favorite relative who made their favorite meal or dessert? I love how the author pulls together family, friends and celebrities and invites them to share their favorite stories and memories about everyone's favorite topic--good food. This is a wonderful book and a fun read; it's full of funny stories, colorful characters and great recipes. Café du Monde translates to "café of the world" or "world café", and it's pretty safe to say that the only people in the world who haven't been to Café du Monde are those who have never been to New Orleans. So my three-step advice is: 1) Go to New Orleans. 2) Start your first morning with a cup of café au lait and beignets at the Café du Monde, then branch out and explore the city's old, narrow streets and experience the best restaurants in the world. 3) Finally, grab a copy of "Meanwhile, Back at Café du Monde..." and read it cover-to-cover to remind yourself that it's good food and good people that make the world go `round.

A foodie's delight!
Having grown up in Lafayette, Louisiana, food was a very important part of my life. Having gone to LSU, food (and drink) were important parts of my life. Having gone to LSU, visits to Cafe du Monde in New Orleans were at least a monthly occurrence. Imagine the happiness I felt when I received an autographed copy of Meanwhile Back at Cafe du Monde for Christmas. The memories of Louisiana came flooding back. The memories of all the wonderful food, fun, and friends I have enjoyed in Louisiana literally leap from the pages of this "delicious" book. The stories are wonderful, the photographs are spellbinding, and the recipes will make you downright hungry. You will find yourself in your kitchen trying a recipe before you know it. Make sure you get a copy of this book soon. If you like food and wonderful stories about food, grab yourself a beignet, and enjoy this wonderful book!

Needed more Receipes
I was very disappointed in the book as there were not enough of the great New Orleans food receipes. The book was not cheap so I was expecting more receipes. I guess if I lived in New Orleans and knew the people that it would be different. But I had no idea who they were, even the book cover had the great New Orleans favorite.

Food Stories at their best!
This a great book that brings all sorts of people from many walks of life to share how food has brought enjoyment into their life. The recipes are the icing on the cake. I look forward to when I get to visit New Orleans and enjoy my Bignets at Cafe' Du Monde. Perfect gift for those foodies that like a little history and story telling to go with. One of the best parts of the books are the stories of each individual in the book. Not only do you get to learn a little bit about what food story affected their life, but you also get to enjoy a recipe. This book is like comfort food. It makes you feel good after you read it and always wanting more.
