Nature's Way to Knitting
Knitting by Nature contains some beautiful patterns, certainly enough that it is worthwhile to buy this book for your knitting library. None of the patterns are for beginning knitters. I think you'd have to be an intermediate knitter to be able to knit any of these patterns. My favorites are the following:Acorns - This is a shawl that has the look of fall in its colorway which is orange and light green. It is knit up in a combination of wool and silk with corner tassels.Bleeding Heart - I used to grow bleeding hearts in my garden and this lovely shawl does not remind me of them. It is beautiful nonetheless. It is knit in a lace pattern in a very bright pink. If I had my choice, I'd change the color. Since it is knit of bamboo yarn it is perfect for Florida where I live.Clematis - This scarf is knit in a lace pattern and its colorway is a beautiful purple. It is lace knitted.Daylily - This shawl reminds me of a daylily. It is lace knitted in orange and yellow and knit in a merino/cashmere/silk yarn.Pears - This ascot looks the color of golden pears. It has one end slipping through an opening at the other end. It is knit with kid mohair/silk/lurex.Tulips - This scarf is a must-knit for me. It is knit with a garter stitch modular construction which has a "tulip budding in the center of each triangle and silk fringe at each intersection of triangles".Violets - This stole is stunning. It is knit in a violet hue and is knit in a lace pattern.Zebra Grass - This stole can be knit in either small, medium or large sizes depending on your wishes. It is knit with sugar cane yarn and is in a green and ivory color way. Most of these patterns utilize hand-dyed yarns. "The variation of color is what makes these skeins so spectacular." Sheryl Thies has created a wonderful book with Knitting by Nature, one which I highly recommend.

Nice book of patterns
I can't say that many of these projects appealed to me aesthetically, but I could see gifts for my mother and friends who like to garden being made. Great how to section for beginners and nice talk about gauge. Patterns are not all simple, but seem to be clearly explained with nice instructions for adventurous beginners.

Lovely projects
I purchased three of Sheryl Thies books at the same time. All are lovely, with beautiful photography, wonderful projects, and clear directions. I have learned - do not buy a knitting book unless there are at least two projects I will make. I have tabbed the projects I am going to complete in each book - five or more per book. I have completed one already - exquisite.

Beautiful patterns
Beautiful patterns that I can't wait to try. The instructions are clear and I don't expect any problems knitting these items up.

I chose this rating
Because the patterns are a little confusing; the items are beautiful when completed though. This is not a beginner book.

Ok for those with more knitting experience
Thought this would be a more straightforward knitting design book as I wanted something for shawls and wraps. Cheaper than a knitting pattern though. The patterns are lovely but some are a little complicated for me as my memory is not as good as it was.
