does this cable support 144hz for gaming monitors?

It can reach 144Hz but you might have to tweak some settings to get that refresh rate. Lower resolution to 2k or lower color bit depth if you want to game at 144Hz.

Are the stouchi ultra hd cables directional? if so, how do i tell which end goes to the source?

It depends. On this listing the shorter cables are not directional. The longer cables are. The 50 ft cable has this in its description for example: About this item [ Attention! ]: The cables are directional as they are optical HDMI cables. The plugs at each end are marked【SOURCE/DISPLAY】please note that the source is the signal source (Laptop, PC, PS4/PS5, Xbox and Blu-ray Player, etc) and the display is the display end (Monitor, TV, Projector, etc). So make sure you plug in each end correctly (if not then you will get no image from the device).
