Worth every penny
I do a lot of research when I buy things, including reading reviews. I looked at this and the Tour SM and decided on this because it was actually much cheaper and I liked the colors. I have issues with my neck and shoulders, and day packs or one shoulder bags just aggravate. I returned the Drift version because it was too small to hold a bigger journal or book. I'm a petite woman, and I think the Tour Small would probably have fit me better, but I thought I could always cinch this larger bag down to a smaller size. I used this on three short hikes with a dog and I LOVE it. Extremely well designed, with pockets in the right places, especially a "hidden one in the front. It has more room than I would need for a short hike. It can hold more than I'd ever need unless on a long flight or hike. It also sits up when on the ground, which is nice. I had to cinch it quite a bit because it is designed for larger waists, but it worked. Super high-quality and thoughtful design. My one critique is that it is a little heavier and it has a neoprene sleeve that I didn't need. I'd almost make that removable if I designed the next version. I also love how easy it is to stow the lumbar straps so that it can just be a day bag. Hiking or walking with a dog and a kid and hands free is a game changer. I expect to use this as well while traveling. I wish I got this years ago.

Jury’s out.
After unboxing and examination it was clear that this is the lumbar pack I wanted. Good design. Good size. Color was right. Comfortable and fully adjustable for a fairly custom fit. I think it will be a good addition to my equipment once the replacement comes in.I started to load the pack on the day after it’s arrival for a seven mile walk. I put a silnylon poncho in the right hand water bottle pocket as you face the logo and pulled the bungee to cinch the top. It immediately snapped from within the sleeve around the top of the pocket. I’ve walked 1680 miles in the last year. I’m respectful of the gear I use and depend on it. I’m pretty disappointed. This is the pack I want. If it was a cheap pack, or this had occurred after sustained use, I’d just figure out a workaround. But I hadn’t even gotten out the door yet. It fills a specific need for me. I’ve returned the first pack and await a replacement. Then I will rewrite my review.Replacement pack arrived in fairly short order, no difficulties or complications. Looked good. No bungees or straps tearing out. I loaded up with basic kit, two full water bottles, firemaking, cordage, water filtration, emergency blanket, knife, etc. still under ten lbs. I think, with more room to spare. Walked a quick three miles. I’m happy now. The Tour is comfortable and big enough for a day hike or quick side jaunt. It’s worth packing along on an extended trip, so you can leave your larger gear at base camp. I really like the shoulder strap. I didn’t need it, but now I’m glad it’s there. Very versatile. Things I especially like? It’s really nice to walk with spine, shoulders, and arms totally unencumbered. Good for a boulder field or scrambling up a steep slope. You have a lot more freedom of movement. Less back sweat. Reach around for water is easy. Replacing water bottle by feel is a bit fiddly, but will get better with familiarity. Plenty of straps for firming things down snug. I didn’t find bouncing to be a problem at all, there is movement, but it’s very slight. My gait is fairly relaxed and smooth, so the Tour is fairly still. I haven’t given the bag 5 stars, cause I can’t speak to durability yet. This is the lumbar pack I wanted. I’m pleased and yes, I’d recommend this pack to anyone who wanted an easy, comfortable, well designed pack for a day hike or side trip. I’m looking forward to longer hikes with it. It’s looking like a good addition to my gear. Thanks.
