An Adventure to Read
Fun to read, amazing places to explore, good detailing. How the book is organized might be improved but the randomness of it is somehow part of the good read.

Cute Ideas
Interesting, nice photos, no really valuable info. More for fantasizing than actual travel.

A Travel Book to Inspire and Intrigue
I love travel books. I'm a travel book junkie at heart, and I can be picky. I like small, tote-able books to bring along on a trip, and lavish coffee table books to ooh and aah over. This isn't quite either of those. It's a hefty book (a good doorstop brick!) fairly evenly split between photos and text. And it's unusual. For one thing: no page numbers. But you probably wouldn't notice unless you were looking closely; the convention of using the travel experience # makes it easy to navigate. And if you're confused about anything, there's a comprehensive index and region-dividing map in the back. This book is incredibly gorgeous, deeply inspiring, and surprisingly accurate with its brief but compelling descriptions. I sent the Liverpool description to a friend who lives there. He whined that the amazing bars mentioned in the profile will now be overrun with tourists - then admitted that the description is scarily authentic, to the point that he could have written it himself. And we both reckoned that the kind of person who reads this book is not the average traveler, and so his favorite speakeasy probably isn't going to be swamped anytime soon.Within twenty minutes of cracking this book, I was starting to formulate life plans that could enable me to hit all 1,000 of these spots--it's hard to imagine a better way to spend my life. Then I realized that many of them probably aren't for me, like the thrill-based craziest ones or the extremely expensive experiences. With that said, many of these are practical things that anyone can go do, and there's something for everyone. There's an excellent mix of types of activities, well-distributed around the world. One of the things I appreciate is that it doesn't sensationalize or exoticize remote areas of the world or its inhabitants. Rather than becoming a total voyeur, you can enter this book with curiosity and discover history, culture, and beauty as if you're looking through a window onto the world. My only complaint? I absolutely want this book in print, because it's wonderful and flipping through it is a visceral experience. Buuuut when I actually travel to any of these places, there's no way I'm bringing it along. It's more general overviews than specific, necessary information, but it's just detailed enough that I know I'll want to refer to it to make sure I don't miss anything. Since I don't want to spend extra cash on a Kindle version, I'll probably settle for taking a smartphone photo of the relevant page to bring along. I guess that's a reasonable tradeoff for an unforgettable experience. This is a book I know I'll refer to for years to come--and that will inspire many wonderful journeys in the years ahead.

Good book, but preferred the previous edition
I like this book, but I really preferred the previous edition. The newer version has less pictures and is much smaller, which means the text is really small. Make the book less of a coffee table book, which is what I was hoping for.

A5 copy pretty much ilegible
I was expecting an A4 version. Even with my glasses on I can barely read some of the text in this book. The price was great, delivery was very quick. Good customer service. If I'd have paid any more for it I would have sent it back, but it would cost me more than I paid for it to return it. So I will gift it to a charity shop and find the A4 copy elsewhere.

A decent book - just don't expect anything too in-depth.
It's a lovely book but like most books of this type, it tries to cover the whole of the planet and so if you want to research a specific area it may only give two or three examples of something to do. If you were to visit somewhere that is a major tourist destination then there is just insufficient information. However, saying that I do like the book and I'm happy I purchased it.
