good book but could have included more info
This is a very quick read, and could almost be issued as a kindle single I would think. I enjoyed reading the book, but I found myself wanting a better idea of the types of crops Washington tried (by variety name). There is also little information on Washington's collaboration with Thomas Jefferson on this topic. I know Jefferson was experimenting for himself at Monticello, and I was surprised to not find an account of any correspondence or cooperation between the 1st and 3rd presidents on the topic of farming. Also, the book's concluding pages could be taken further with short description of the development of USDA and modern farming techniques, and what sort of farmer Washington would have been had he lived to farm the 21st century.
