.co.uk One of the best and most thorough "best of" compilations of any band, short of a multi-CD box set. The Marshall Tucker Band produced an enormous amount of work in the span of a few short years, although their career continued past that initial flurry of activity. Long considered a Southern rock band, Marshall Tucker seemed to have their biggest success with songs that drew more from their country leanings. The Best of the Marshall Tucker Band chronicles not only their commercial hits, but pays close attention to the band's more adventurous work in the process. Die-hard devotees of the group will appreciate the inclusion of studio and live versions of some of the same songs, including "Can't You See," with its lilting flute solo. "24 Hours at a Time" is represented by a live cut, while their biggest commercial success, "Heard It in a Love Song," gets only the single version in the collection. Regardless, with over 20 five songs, the double CD does not disappoint. --Steve Gdula

Best Of Marshall Tucker Band
This was a nice package and an improvement to the Best Of I had on vynal which only had 8 songs on (a disgrace). This music is a mixture of southern country rock and jazz. It's a 2 CD set and has about 15 tracks on each CD, a big improvement to the vynal edition. The less jazzy tracks sounded a bit like The Ozark Mountain Daredevils. I've now ordered The Anthology, The First 30 Years of The Marshall Tucker Band, also a 2CD set with 5 tracks off the first CD and the whole of the second CD not on this album.
