Florida Getaway: 1 (CSI: Miami)

Totally gripping CSI book which actually starts at Las Vegas CSI. The book totally pulls you into the characters of Horatio and his team and makes you feel like your watching it on the screen. Well written and very gripping i found myself trying to solve it from all the clues and couldn't put it down.

'Florida Getway' is the first book in the C.S.I: Miami written series, featuring Horatio Caine and his team of CSIs - Alexx, Calleigh, Eric and Speedle. The story begins in Las Vegas where the Vegas CSIs are trying to get enough evidence together to pin a murder on big-time hotel owner Thomas Lessor, but in the meantime Lessor goes over to Florida and Grissom passes on the case to Horatio. Only minutes after Lessor arrives in Florida there are two more murders and from the evidence it looks like it could be linked to the mob.For a TV novelisation, Max Allan Collins does a decent job of recreating the characters from the show, giving them their usual characteristics and also keeps the fast-paced and suspense-filled style of the show. The dialogue is just as familiar and witty (including H's corny one-liners) and makes reading it just as enjoyable as watching it. Florida Getaway is very exciting and filled with lots of plot twists (even though one or two are a little predictable) and opening up the story with the characters from the Vegas CSI series is a great way of introducing the (then-new) series to the reader, making everything seem a little more familiar. Overall this is a great spin-off from the show and a book that any fan of the TV show should enjoy. At 275 pages it's a fairly quick and easy read and one that will keep you guessing until the end.

This book is so wonderfully written that you can really see what's going on. It feels just like watching it on TV! I thought the last CSI book was good,but this one was even better. I have personally never watched any of the CSIs, but I loved this book and still felt able to connect with the characters, despite never having watched the show, so I would reccomend it to devoted fans of the show, but also to people who have no intention of ever watching

This book was absolutly brilliant.I'm very pleased with my buy. The storyline was excellent and the details of people and places was excellent aswell. If you are a CSI fan like me then this is definatly a must buy, you won't regret it!

When I saw that you could read CSI Miami aswel as watching it I was slightly worried that the book was not going to live up to the tv programme. I was wrong! I even felt like I watching an episode of the programme, it was so well written. I would say to anyone that is a fan of CSI, CSI Miami and the other CSI books they should read this book. If you don't you will be missing out. And for all those that only know of CSI and have not come across CSI Miami don't worry, there is a bit of Los Vegas in the book to gently introduce you into it all.

A must have for any CSI:miami fan. This was the first CSI novel I read and I most definitely was NOT disappointed! When you read, the writer makes you feel like you are in the middle of an episode! Great read; great twist and turns; you'll NEVER guess who did it! READ this book! I am now on my fifth CSI novel, they are unputdownable! With CSI:New York starting in September, hours of reading are coming!
