Five stars! Merci merci merci!
Just arrived, ahead of schedule. I wasn't sure, but YES, this is a DVD of five episodes that ran on French television back in 2006 (I think that was the year). Long ago, I was able to watch some of this on YouTube, but then it was pulled. Now I have it and it's a wonderful behind the scenes off Chanel couture, great comments from the people who create the vision. You must have a region 2 DVD player but it's so worth it!

Perfection!
This DVD is a must for fashion mavens out there. You really get to see a the behind the scenes inner workings of The House Of Chanel. One of the highlights of this documentary is that you get to see how Chanel trim is made. It is in French, and it is a region 2 DVD, so just invest in a region free DVD player. It's worth it.

Fascinating look into the world of Chanel and couture
This is a fascinating glimpse into the real people that make couture happen. Especially interesting is the late great Madame Pouzieux who has made the braid for Chanel for decades.

For Fashionistas and Sewists Too!
I'm as much a fashion maven as I am a sewists and for both this is a great series. Watching the ladies work in the atelier is so charmingly delightful and of course seeing the product of their labors is exquisite. The lovely lady who weaves/makes the trims is equally charming. It explains why the whole garment at Chanel is so treasured!

Most Wonderful Documentary
I had seen this when it came out, and I was so excited when I found this, that I immediately ordered it. Unfortunately, it is not compatible with any of my DVD players. My mistake.

Taking a peek inside
Well I was a little apprehensive on ordering this DVD after reading some not so good reviews elsewhere. BUT I can say in all honesty it is fascinating and very well shot. The cameras were allowed an incredible degree of access to a world where few get to tread or work!To see the designer in full flow and not waiting on a flunky to produce designs for them was so refreshing. The staff were shown in all their glory and the occasionally rudeness, but then this is a high precison form of artistry with all the stresses to boot and second best simply doesnt do. The skills of the shop floor i.e. seamstressess, suppliers and especially the eccentric braid maker (a farmer) went a long way into making this a valuable insight into a very highly prized craftfor anyone considering a career in fashion its certainly well worth a purchase. no one gets anywhere without effort, talent and application and this certainly proves the pointEnjoy!

Chanel, Karl & Co.
This lengthy documentary follows the house of Chanel, it's designer Karl Lagerfeld and the many talented people behind the scenes. It's a well balanced film and gives much coverage of the everyday workings of the studio. When the film concentrates on Karl you can tell Chanel is his true home, a genuine successor to Coco Chanel. You can choose an English subtitled version, which is great. The only downside is that the extras aren't included with the subtitled version. If you wish to see the extras access the French language section, there are some great extras. It's a shame as the extra's are quite lengthy and deserve being subtitled. Overall though I can recommend this dvd, buy it!

Educational and funny
I am learning more and more about textiles and fashion and this DVD is definately something I would recomend to any student in these fields. The chanel house is always super busy with orders and also preparing for their next collection. I particularly loved the ladies upstairs, the seemstresses, that create the garments and their wonderful personlalities. Quite funny in parts. But their work is wonderful! I was also very interested in the tambour methods used to embroider and embelish the garments, something I will definately be having a go at myself.

magnifique!
This DVT is really excellent, I've watched it countless times. The DVT is split into several half hour episodes and details a couture collection from conception to final catwalk show in Paris. Really shows what goes into making it all happen - Karl is a genius! You also get to meet lots of staff at the Paris headquarters where they make the collections - this DVT is a must for all fashionistas out there!

Wonderful programme
I saw the series twice when it was shown on television - it is a fascinating glimpse into a world most people will never see. Lagerfeld is a very charismatic character, and the crowd of people who work for him are touchingly loyal. I have bought the DVD to give as a Christmas present, but will borrow it back and watch it all again. Highly recommended
