Easter eggs
Fast paced thriller. I found a few possible Easter eggs. Some may be a stretch. Here goes:ยท The title of the book "One Mile Under" is a reversal of Denver's "Mile High City".ยท The SUVs and Jeeps of the RMM bad guys are all black (like black hats in a western movie)ยท The SUV of good guy Sheriff Wade Dunn is white (like white hats in a western movie)ยท The tomboy protagonist goes by Dani, instead of her given name of Danielleยท Persistent investigator Ty's last name is Hauck (like hawk)ยท Ron, the balloonist, gave the first clue that something was awry. His nickname of Rooster indicates that he woke people up.

It's the little things!
I read The Saboteur by Andrew Gross and really liked it so I started reading the Ty Hauck series. I enjoy his character development and his stories. The books I have read so far as "page turners". I have now read all four of the Ty Hauck series and while I am impressed with the writing and story line I am compelled to write this review because what happened in book 4 should not happen at all and especially among good writers. There are three instances where Gross refers to previous books and gets it wrong three times. 1. In book 4 Gross writes that Ty was in his car when he accidentally ran over his 4 yr old daughter. In book 1-3 Ty was not in the car. 2. In book 4 Gross writes that Karen (book 2) is in Baltimore taking care of her father. Books 2-3 stated that she went to Atlanta. 3. Book 4 Gross writes that Brandon is the son of Annie while in books 2-3 his name was Jared. An author looses credibility when the little things affect a story. Such as either book 2 or 3 when he shuts off the power to a house but then the printer churns doing a critical scene. I will nonetheless continue to read his books. Mistakes like this move has moved Andrew Gross from my "great" writer list to my "good" writer list. And while I'm at it, please don't have an american character say fortnight ...

another great novel
I really loved this book. Gross has found a notch to define his characters and bring them to life. The adventure in Colorado was like a visit to the Wild West and itโs dip into land and water rights led to a new and unique plot. How long can Yy Hauck live on this way.

Ty was lacking in personality
I have read all of the Ty Hauck series and I felt that this one was not as good as the other ones were. I did read it in 2 days but it was predictable. I kept hoping for more to his character. I know that he was recuperating from his previous injuries but he seemed a bit lackluster to me in this book. His one sentence answers to his goddaughter after she experienced near death at the water plant seemed so uninterested and patronizing. Ty was not as strong or as charismatic as he was in his previous books. I was disappointed..It was a good book if you hadn't read the others and had something to compare. Having said all of that, I love Andrew Gross and can't wait for another thriller, just not with Ty.

Filled with bad guys and good guys and men and women that ...
One Mile Under is a thriller that captures the reader's attention early on and doesn't let go until the very end. Gross has created colorful and interesting characters in a story set in a mountain wonderland. He also is expert at giving us a lesson in 'fracking' without beating us over the head with it. Filled with bad guys and good guys and men and women that just want to get on with their lives. The story line is true and concise and builds the suspense gradually. Very well done, Mr. Gross. I will definitely read more of your work in the future. Ron Parham, author of thrillers Festival of Fear, Molly's Moon and Copperhead Cove.

I've read all of the Ty Hauck novels and enjoy them a lot
I've read all of the Ty Hauck novels and enjoy them a lot. No simple answers to the plot line, it is complex and at time seems like the characters' problems are insurmountable. Given that the story focuses on oil mining (fracking) that is currently happening in our country, the crimes and deceptions portrayed in the story are very disheartening - if they truly are happening. It's fiction, but probably not too far off from the reality. I started reading this series because it took place in Greenwich, CT, where I lived for a number of years. I enjoy reading books that take place in places that I am familiar with.

Interesting story line - story could be better.
In a well-written crime-thriller I expect some slightly supernatural events, but I do like to keep loosely within the territory of "all right, it could happen" even if unlikely. This book is very well researched, and about an interesting and very timely topic. However, the situations that the stars of the story manage to escape from does stretch the boundaries of what is plausible. The writing itself is average and would be okay if the author was less highly praised for past work. I finished reading the book, but I am not motivated to read anything else by the author. I hate that feeling.

Good book
Book was very well written. I love Andrew Gross's historical Nazi books better. Just my personal taste in books. This is a worthwhile book to read.

Read this novel by Andrew Gross
It was very exciting reading another Andrew Gross novel. The author has an extraordinary sense of human nature and their challenges. The characters became very defined and Dani became a heroine worthy of his writing. It was also very informative with the descriptions of various Colorado rivers, towns, etc. It is a definite read, you may have difficulty setting the book down. Do hope Andrew Gross has many more great novels to introduce.
